If the MC is 3P, what do you think the mafia/town theme split is?

probably heroes/players Vs monsters based on guild recruit mechanics and the post Mikal just made. But it’s too early to say for sure.

Yes, I'd love for Wylted to out his recruit and to work with you to recruit different players. Yes, it is greatly in the interest of town to do so. No I don't think he's going to. Yes I've given up on what I feel is the optimal mechanical approach to the game because it began to detract from progressing the game.

I understand that you post at a time that's usually less active. I'm not trying to directly devalue your contributions. I was trying to make catching up easier for the players who were behind. I think if you objectively read back over the post range I told them to skip, you would be hard pressed to say that it would have been a great loss in their understanding of the game up to that point.

My initial assumption is that we're looking at a Korean vs Japanese hunter split. Player characters just slot in with the nationality of their affiliation.

I don’t think it’s ego, I think maybe I was a little on edge with you coming back. You probably don’t remember but last time I had interacted with you it didn’t end the best. I was a little wary playing with you because of it but I had kind of mentally prepared myself for some conflict to happen. The the game starts and you immediately call me out for outing that I am guild leader, kind of disregard my reasoning for it, and I was getting the vibe you were just calling me an idiot, so maybe at that point I read deeper into other things you said as being douchier than you meant them. I thought you had a grudge against me for the tarkov thing 6 years ago and were bringing it back into this game which I was finding a bit infuriating. If that’s not the case then I apologize for misunderstanding.

Can monsters join guilds in the show

The monsters are kind of inherently bad in the show. They come through these portals and wreak havoc in random parts of cities where they open up. The hunters association created a solution to this by ranking the dungeons by difficulty and sending hunters with matching power levels to kill the monsters and harvest valuable resources from them which enables them to close the dungeons portals. There is only like one case of a “good” monster I can think of that Jin Woo interacts with, but generally they are all pretty destructive and evil. The worst ones being the ants on jeju island who are just leagues above even the best hunters. Jin woo being the only exception.

I just disagreed with the approach of outing as a guild leader and tried to pivot the plan to make the most use of what had happened. I entirely understand how it could come across as particularly harsh when I called you a twat after you claimed. That was me being dramatic in a silly way because the claim came almost simultaneous to me saying for the guild leaders not to claim. It was a Jim panning to the camera moment.

Also, Tarkov grudge? I don't even remember that lol. I was actually thinking about when we played Tarkov together and the good memories which is part of why I've been so shocked at how our interactions this game have gone.

First the Helz/wylted reconciliation, now Mes/Luna. This game is finna be downright heartwarming.

Guilds are exclusively composed of human beings, so no. If scum are just straight up boss monsters, then their capacity to join a Guild would be surprising and not in line with the show.

Weird Sung Jinah can't join a guild for theme reasons but monsters could still join despite theme reasons, but I suppose Mikal could've handwaved that for game purposes.

It is tied to something that happened in game because in the show Jin Woo helps on jeju island and Mikal is saying that Jin Woo is actively choosing not to take a side or participate in jeju island. I think there is a third party or something who is Jin Woo and they had to make a choice to joins guild or remain 3p and they chose to remain 3p. Or something like that.

That would be weird, though, since this came up two days into the DP. Setting aside concerns about the theme split and how it would break down without Jin-woo in town, you would have to believe that Jin-woo refused to accept an invite to a Guild, Mikal waited two days in the DP, and then he posted this.

I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand at least. If there are Japanese Hunters in the mix, that would track with his thought on a theme split. It's possible that scum is just straight up boss monsters. It's also possible that they're human antagonists who have tried to kill Jin-woo, since there are a few of those.

I appreciate that. You don’t have to hold back when talking to me or anything, you should see the shit we say and call each other these days in mafia, we just kind of take it as part of the game and are all friends in the next game. I just didn’t know if there was external shit behind it but if you don’t even remember it then there likely isn’t and we are Gucci.

I phrased that poorly, what my theory with that was is essentially that Jin woo is third party and had to mae a choice before the end of dp1 to be able to joint with town, scum or stay independent and maybe the wording of Mikal’s post indicates he made a choice to stay independent. Kind of a shot in the dark theory but it made sense to me as I was reading it.

As far as I'm concerned, the TP bit is only mildly relevant in that we need to know if they can joint win with town. So if you're TP and you intend to win with the town, now would be the time to say so. I can't speak for everyone else, but I'll be much less likely to be understanding if it comes out in later DPs and you try to say you want to win with the town.

Still interested in hearing more from people who haven't talked much. Otherwise, my ideal scenario is probably VTNL to allow guilds to recruit more people? Certainly amenable to voting today, with my preferred target being Thoth as my primary scum lead. Open to be pitched alternate wagons if a Thoth vote isn't likely to happen.
