Solo Leveling - DP2

All I am getting from this game is Solo Leveling is shit and Koreans are major pussies.

I can buy Jinwoo being third party. There was a time when mods would actually flavor their OPs and other posts, so as Lunatic said, its probably hinting at something.

I'd say that's somewhat up to interpretation, but if he really had no interest in stepping in to save anyone, you have to wonder why he came when he did instead of just waiting for all the humans to die out.

I don't think him not caring about most people means he actively wants people to die. Difference between Psychopath/sociopath. If you've seen the holy trinity (A recent western movie) theres a qoute I like from Samuel L Jackson's character when one of the protagonists asks him why Sam Jacksons Character didn't kill him he says "I ain't the devil son, I'm just a sinner". Kind of how I view Jin Woo lol.

He did seem genuinely desperate to save Cha Hae-In in the aftermath as well.

There is a spoiler related reason for this that I won't go into if you only have watched the show.

 I won't argue that he's not being selfish here, just that he put himself in the middle of events on Jeju at a time that wasn't particularly opportune for pursuing his own aims and protected others shortly after he arrived. You can argue that Cha Hae-In was an exception because she was "close" to him, and that it was still a dick move to let so many Hunters die before stepping in, but it's arguable whether he's solely self-serving here.

It definitely is debatable, part of what makes the show so good imo. There's a big question about morals and how the main character fits into being a protagonist, or if he really is a protagonist. I find it a breath of fresh air to have animes where the main character isn't just an inherently good dude, its been done and done, its cool to see more grey area characters like Jin Woo. He's not totally hateable either. He just seems more realistic. I don't think the vast majority of people with abilities would be helpful to others without benefit to themselves as they frequently are in these things. Jin Woo feels real character wise for this.

Any game related thoughts and reads? Would you be opposed to character claiming? You are in most peoples null/scum piles due to low activity and contribution. What, if anything, do you think you should be town read for?

If I didn't have a pretty good scum read on alyssa I would probably push you for a claim, but I can hold off on that til next day phase. If your activity increases and you give us more to read you on though that can change, but right now you are largely an unknown.

I think what he wants, and I know what I want, is for you to have opinions about other players in the game and to contribute to solving the game.

I'm pretty happy with Thoth/Alyssa/Awesome/Shining mafia and Helz 3P.

Alyssa needs to flip as scum first. And yeah, you can always say I am bussing Alyssa, but thats a ballsy play isn't it? So sure, I could be bussing an experienced mafioso, or I am town and I pointed something strange about how Alyssa claimed, even if Mikal had to come down and make a correction. My activity should not have anything to do with the probability that I am a bussing mafia or just town.

That's the point of my comment. You weren't predicating the town cred on Alyssa flipping scum. You spoke as if she will flip scum.

Moreover, I don't really think it counts as a bus when the lynch was inevitable the moment Thoth flipped.

Aside from my gut read on Shining, I really, really don't think a scum Thoth/Alyssa team would make him the counterwagon at the end of last DP if he was also scum. That changes if Alyssa somehow doesn't flip scum, but if you have two scum caught redhanded, one is likely to be lynched, and you're desperately trying to prevent that, then you don't start a wagon on a third member of your scum team. The speed at which the Shining wagon took off also seemed sus, and it's one of those things I will look at more closely next DP in light of the flip.

Valid point. I do bias scumreading players that I don't think provide value to the town.

I remember Pie saying he wouldn't give his partner a bad claim but I do remember him saying that as scum, so maybe, but Alyssa isn't some new player.

I liked Helz posts so far, and for the most part, Banana and Awesome have floated around not doing much. Can't blame them. Wryly is a bit more active, but hasn't posted anything off. If all four are town, then that means mafia is in a group I consider town, including you and Luna/Wylted.

It almost hurts to make my brain jump through mafia hoops after having to problem solve all day, but I read back through the DP. Tiredbrain ftw.

I'm a little surprised there's been no investigative push on post #2, but maybe more experienced players have deemed it best left alone.

My team has a lynch reversal role in it, which feels like it would be a direct counter to Alyssa and also align with how Mikal balances the game

Didn't give this post of wylted's enough attention. I'm not sure if he means one of his guildmates has a lynch reversal power or the guild itself has lynch reversal as a faction power, but either way, that makes it very unlikely that Alyssa is town and has a similar power, though it would still be possible if she was scum. wylted has lied to scumhunt before, but I don't get the sense he's lying now.

It may be largely moot since we're lynching Alyssa anyway, but this tidbit matters to me because I think her self-vote and her phrasing ambiguity are a bit of a wash; wylted's info here and the odd redirector argument are the salient points for me.

I'm gonna ask everyone a similar question to the one I asked yesterday. If you had to vote for someone other than Alyssa today, who would you vote for and why?

Depends on variables I'm still weighing.

I haven't fully dismissed the possibility Thoth was tailored, but I can't strategize around that; it just creates a minefield of uncertainty and I'm not gonna deal with that until I see Alyssa's flip.

Another variable is whether Thoth's last words were an attempt to manipulate NP1 actions or a more long-term distancing play. If the former, maybe he was just trying to get people to waste investigatives on Casey or whiteflame or the fake Jinwoo POE; if the latter, some of those people could actually be scum.
