Your TP fakeout accomplished nothing aside from make you look bizarre and scummy and allowed Luna to pocket you by townreading you for it. And they won very easily in DP3 because they had two good mislynch targets - you and Shining (who apparently only I can read for some reason). They could turn DP3 into a 'hmmmm, is it Magic or Shining?' game and let Thoth pick between them.

You don’t get it. As Town you can do dumb shit and get lynched. Whatever. Why would scum do dumb shit that gets them lynched? They do not want to be lynched. It’s specifically something they avoid.

as town though? You’re not super focused on self-preservation, you care about finding scum. So, yes, a dude who does something dumb and gets himself lynched is probably Town.

I’m not saying people don’t fake claim ss scum, and obviously it depends on context, but I had very little reason to do what I did as scum. The only reason is some dumb ploy to get townread, but you can say that about pretty much every action in the game.

Part of your job as town is to not be lynched. I disagree that town players should have no thoughts of self-preservation. As town, the payoff of a gambit should outstrip the risk of said gambit.

Seemed pretty well balanced. We had a counter for both town power roles so I think it was cool.

I thought the balance was good but the vig made it quite swingy in a nine player game.

I do the same thing. If I pick up on pie or you being scum, usually I will wait to try and pursue the lynch and maybe even to openly state the scum read just because I know nobody is voting you guys dp1 unless I sense that for some reason they would. I kinda thought we all did this.

I used to push more active players like pie all the time. The problem is in the state mafia is in now, it usually kind of back fires. Say someone like Pie or whiteflame is town, and we mislynch him, then we are down one of the few players that has common sense early and are probably screwed. If I had a solid reason to scum read one of them day phase 1 though I wouldn't hesitate to push them, but it kind of feels pointless. And I've seen enough of the Pie/mharman situations from andor to know how that usually goes. In the off chance you get two active players with brain cells fighting with each other and it results in a death tunnel, it kind of punishes town. Also we don't really have a lot of skilled mafia players that play super aggressively, Pie used to a lot more but even he has mellowed out with that. Most of the time the passionate active player is more likely to be town.

If I am scum and I see Pie/Mharman duking it out and attract all the attention and votes on them in dp1, thats an ideal situation for me. I know who to let live to make them look bad based on who is winning the crowd over more, and since everyone has ego's the size of mount everest and can't fathom someone being town and dis-agreeing with them, there is a high likelihood that the feud will result in the lynch, or the mod kill in mharmans situations lol
