School days should start no earlier than 9:00 AM to give teenagers adequate sleep.

Started by NoAhLeEcLaRk ·

Many studies show that teenagers naturally stay up later and need more sleep due to biological changes. Starting school at 7:30 AM or 8:00 AM leads to chronic sleep deprivation, which hurts our attention span, mental health, and grades.

If school started later, students would be healthier, more focused, and perform much better academically. While critics argue that a later start time messes up bus schedules and parents' work routines, student well-being and learning should come first.

Americas Department of Education Is Horrible

As a 14 year old making this opinion, I find it really hard to focus in 1st period making my day even more difficult knowing I can't truly focus on my education due to the fact of these ignorant American School systems.

Government benefits from stupid people

I don't think this is true in the US and Europe at least. CCPGrey made a video called the rules for rulers that touches on this. Governments benefit from a dumber population when wealth comes from natural resources and benefit from a smarter population when their wealth comes from innovation.

Seems like they could get revenue easier from taxes, and they need smart people to make the pie bigger.

I agree they could get revenue easier from taxes but I don't think they would get as much if we ever are going to pay off our debt "EVER"!

DoEd Is Horrible But What Does A Homeschooler Know?

Like I said, I'm homeschooled so I'm honestly just speculating but I think that if you go to school later, yes you will pay better attention but you will actually become more mentally exhausted at the end of the schoolday. For instance, I typically work 7-4 but sometimes I work 5-2. My 5-2 days are easier, although I'm still half asleep at first. I haven't looked into why that is true but at the end of an early shift, I'm less exhausted than at the end of a regular shift. Once again, it might not translate into school idk. @SatanLucy our government does not benefit from stupid people fyi
