Nuclear energy, on balance, is a net positive

From Wikipedia

Nuclear power is the use of nuclear reactions to produce electricity. Nuclear power can be obtained from nuclear fission, nuclear decay and nuclear fusion reactions. Presently, the vast majority of electricity from nuclear power is produced by nuclear fission of uranium and plutonium in nuclear power plants. Nuclear decay processes are used in niche applications such as radioisotope thermoelectric generators

Arguments for (1)

Nuclear power will save the economy

In 1945, America supplied Japan with nuclear power. As a result, Japan experienced an economic miracle. During the economic boom from 1945 to 1991, Japan rapidly became the world's third-largest economy after the United States and Soviet Union.

Arguments against (2)

Even if the odds of nuclear war is 1%, the expected value of nuclear energy is negative

There are economic benefits and so far it's been a positive, but the risk of setting humanity back to the stone ages is too great.

Ok I misread the prompt; nuclear blasts don't produce electricity so they are out of scope.

Its positive until you are the one living near a nuclear power plant

The idea that nuclear energy is all positive was pretty much disproved quickly in Japan. Its better to use sources of energy which are all positive, and the only ones which fit that are solar panels.
