Pointless, harmful, painful, and severe injuries in cases of "circumcision gone wrong"
Health benefits of circumcision are virtually non-existent. Countries with more circumcision on average even have lower life expectancy than countries where circumcision is rare, studies claiming benefits of circumcision are basically all small scale studies which are selective and which show such small benefits, in just 1% of cases which is also lower than margin of error for small scale studies.
But circumcision carries many obvious harms, such as severe pain, trauma to infant, altering sexual function of a penis because foreskin plays a sexual function. But that is far from all. In cases of "circumcision gone wrong", people have even experienced complete loss of sexual function, permanent damage to penis, and in some cases even death. Over 100 newborns die every year in USA as a consequence of circumcision, and additional 600 each year experience severe complications which require surgery to save their life, sometimes even a complete loss of penis.
