Humans are blank slates with their own desires.
The term "good" or "evil", in my mind would refer to the influences of such. A child is programmed by it's environment to be good or evil and even those words are subjective. There is a third influence on a child and that is it's own self-willed desires. It can perform good or evil deeds in order to accomplish those desires.
