In the running for the worst president we've ever had and getting worse as he goes.

I want to believe they will eventually do better, but for now, The Republican Party is, by and large, a sycophantic entity towards Donald Trump.

I'd love to say I believe in the Democratic Party, but they've regularly ensured that I don't via repeated mistakes and failures.

Like Congress, it has become a political arm of Donald Trump with a few outliers and the occasional decision that feels nuanced. A shame given how storied this body is.

Despite some issues with how the popular vote could be implemented and the difficulties involved, I think the Electoral College has outstayed its welcome, showcasing myriad failures across multiple elections.

It's not perfect, either, but it provides opportunities for voters to support candidates who have less of a chance of winning in a straight up election.

We need some laws to exist, but the question is whether those laws are sufficient as is or should be expanded to require certain types of ID or place other additional burdens on voters. I oppose that.

Elections need to stop costing so damn much and candidates need restrictions on how much money they can court.

Access to abortion is necessary to recognizing the right to bodily autonomy.

We need to recognize that racism and discrimination are still very much alive and well and respond accordingly.

Though some of these programs go a bit too far, they generally are a good inclusion and should be supported.

Physician-Assisted Suicide absolutely should be legal. Euthanasia is a thornier issue that should be allowed, but carefully policed.

More speech is good speech.

There should be reasonable limitations and gun registration should be put in place, but for the most part, people should be able to have access to guns if they want them.

Religious liberty is essential. Public policies that restrict it can only go so far as keeping government separate from religion and no further.

We have to recognize there are some substantial failures of police as an institution. Part of that is delegating tasks that police aren't trained to do to the appropriate people, and part of it is ensuring that they can be tried and convicted of abuses.

Surveillance is an overused and poorly supported tool, but it has its uses.

I think the death penalty has largely outstayed its welcome. It has some purpose remaining to it, but it causes more harm than good.

You can't really have a justice system without it. The system could be changed to prevent abuses and it's worth changing the way we handle it, but as a tool, it's still essential.

I think it has its place, but it does punish those in poverty. Its use should change, but it shouldn't be eliminated entirely.

Retribution in prisons doesn't work as well as advertised and leads to a lot more recidivism. I think you need a balance, but with an emphasis on rehab.

It is mainly a public health problem we're trying to solve with longer sentences. Doesn't work.

Absent cases where it's clear the child fully understood what they were doing and committed a heinous act, they should be treated differently.

Private prisons are an almost necessary evil. You have to have them since the government cannot keep up with the load, but they should be heavily regulated to prevent abuses.

Frankly, it's absurd that this is still such a big issue, and the way it sticks to criminal records is beyond the pale.

The goal shouldn't be to raise corporate taxes, it should be to ensure that corporations pay the ones they have. The loopholes are the issue, not the actual rate.

There's a valid argument for this, though I think there are better ways to handle the broad income inequality issues than UBI.

I support it to an extent. I think recognizing the increasing costs to landlords is important, but they should also be prevented from abusing the system.

It's almost a given at this point. We're a globalized economy. Free trade has negative consequences, of course, but there is no golden alternative.

It depends on the point you're at, but considering economies like the US are paying exorbitant costs just to cover interest on their debt, some prioritization is necessary.

Social Security will go away if we expand or even maintain scheduled benefits. Sacrifices have to be made to ensure my generation has benefits at all.

There's really no choice. Either it's reformed or Social Security ceases to be, and yes, that requires some loss to future generations receiving it (including me).

Generally speaking it's a good thing, though there should be limits on how far it extends for very large families.

There needs to be some help, especially with the cost of housing soaring beyond what local communities can manage. Difficult to know how much.

They were invaded by Russia and continue to defend themselves against an autocratic dictator. Nuff said.

As someone who cares a lot about Israel's security, their efforts to secure it regularly go too far. You can't prioritize either. Both have to occur or nothing ends.

Too complex an issue to side in either group. It should be on a case by case basis, but there are clearly cases where intervention is required.

The Defense Department needs to be clear about how they're spending those funds before they receive more. Congress appropriates those funds, but the DoD is responsible for how it's spent.

We don’t have much choice but to rely on fossil fuels for now, but they do have to be phased out.

Nuclear energy still has a place in the system, though expansion should be careful and modernized.
