It's not as if life comes with any guarantees of longevity and uninterrupted bliss...Far from it indeed.

Perhaps aborted foetuses are the lucky ones.

I don't understand the question, what does it mean to be a "slave to material evolution and universal progress".

What would be the alternative?

Perhaps aborted foetuses are the lucky ones.

Why do you think it is a bad thing?

I am young. this guy is very old. Average life expectancy favors me over him. Its bad news for him. Average life expectancy in UK is 81 years. this guy is probably over 70.

I thank God every day for making me rich. thats so much better than being poor. No offense to poor people, but their social status is logically undesirable.

If he looks like that, its great for him, but judging how he hates actual workout and prefers riding bicycle, I imagine a lot less muscles.

Material evolution and universal progress. . .

I often doubt there's any end goal,

Any objective meaning, or intentional purpose of existence,

It just does as it does according to it's Nature.

I often doubt there's any higher or lower evolution,

What 'matters, all just a matter of perspective.

I don't think we are of intelligent design,

So I don't think we are slaves, except perhaps poetically.

. . .

I 'do think humans Nature, born of Nature and Nurture, often, perhaps usually encourages us to progress as a society, to progress as individuals.

Humans often seem to like creating, building, acquiring, accomplishing.

We don't 'have to,

We can destroy, be without, focus on spiritual growth.

Though even destruction is accomplishment of sorts,

Even spiritual growth is progress.

Perhaps to an individual who lives as a monk, spiritual growth is more 'true and meaningful than technological progress.

. . .

. . .

We're all part of the world, any from certain perspectives, are unto various ends.

I do not think I would call that slavery.

I do not look forward to death or old age,

But I am glad to be alive.

Once one is in the game of life, just not my style to quit it seems.

I do not think the aborted lucky,

If they 'exist, then they are denied, as I would be denied my further life from this instant, were a person to kill me.

If they do 'not exist, then not existing, they cannot possess any luck, perhaps.

. . . It 'is often an argument of the Pro Choice, that they are not killing a person.

Because they argue no person is there.

A non existence cannot be killed, cannot be harmed, cannot be 'lucky.

A match chosen at random from a matchbox is not lucky or unlucky, in being struck or spared.

A theoretical child that might exist between two people, is not lucky or unlucky, for they did not exist.

. . . Though I think myself, that the unborn exist.

Even now as I live and breathe,

Will my future be comfortable? Long?

Does it matter?

I am here now,

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.” - Gandalf, LOTR

. . .

Course. . . There 'are hard moments in life, near 'all of life hard for some people I am sure.

I've not found a job 'yet I enjoy.

I hate working.

Sometimes relationships are irritating, it's one reason I try to avoid close friendships with people, I dislike the obligation and duty I feel and assign to such.

I believe in duty to family and friends, but I don't consider myself 'slaved to them.

. . Some people have awful family and dysfunctional relationships though. . .

. . My life is pretty free, (For the moment).

Even later on, I think I'll be a bit free.

Antinatalism is a mental poison.

Edit post

The US is a definitively secular nation, founded on complete separation of the State and religion. The Left Wing of US realise this but don't realise that pure freedom requires as low tax and free access to guns as possible. The Right Wing of US don't realise that secular pure freedom means the LGBTQ+ and abortion agendas both end up in line with US's liberty-first ethos.

It is left-wing to be pro-life. You are backing poor babies being born at the inconvenience of the already-born. Go figure.

Yeah, I plan to reproduce, because its obvious to me my offspring could be next Jesus or Guru Nanak.

I will raise my offspring using following rules:

  1. No corporal punishment (I am raising an intellectual, not a boxer)
  2. High carbohydrate diet (His brain needs plenty of sugar to grow properly)
  3. Reward based system of parenting
  4. I will teach him many religions without telling him which to choose.
  5. He will need to be educated on logic and debating from early age
  6. He needs a smartphone at early age
  7. Also, he needs to be taught about many logical absolute theories

I really hope my offspring will be a male. I am not a misogynist. I just know woman is statistically less likely to get in position of power.

Definitely read and learn more. That is an insufficient parenting plan.

Yeah, I forgot, I also have to include bed time stories and intelligence boosting sounds, such as classical music.

My offspring also must never be poor. He must have plenty of toys, and expensive smartphone.

He needs to be rich from early age. He cannot be distracted by poverty.

He also needs to be on few natural mind boosting substances, such as caffeine. My parents gave me caffeine in form of coffee since age 5, and I do have maximally great brain so I naturally must assume caffeine isnt harmful for kids in small amount.

His diet needs to be most logically planned to ensure maximally great brain development which hopefully gifts humanity most optimal future spiritual leader.

He also needs to learn about value of sharing and caring for others.

Also, he must have vegetarian diet. Meat eaters are lower in IQ and empathy, so I must logically exclude meat from his diet.

Yes, tho I mostly oppose almost all sports. I dont think running or riding a bicycle benefit anyone, really. It takes too much time which can be better used elsewhere. Also, bicycles lead to higher risk of accident. Now, doing a bit of workout from time to time is good enough.

Also, he logically needs to spend time in meditation, proper breathing, proper water intake, and preferably some time in nature. Forest naturally benefits human.

Also, almost all teaching must be done in form of questions. He must be asked questions and make his own conclusion based on questions which motivate thinking. I am not telling him what to think. I am teaching him to think and motivating him to think.

Some additional tips.

Raising children today involves

balancing love and boundaries, fostering independence through real-world skills and resilience, teaching critical thinking, prioritizing emotional health with validation and connection, and modeling positive behaviors while limiting excessive screen time for a well-rounded development. It's about guiding them to become capable, kind, and resilient adults by teaching them to solve problems, handle failure, and contribute positively to the world, rather than micromanaging their lives or shielding them from challenges.

Core Principles for Today's Parents

  1. Build a Strong, Safe Relationship: Be their secure base; a strong bond ensures they come to you for help and guidance, notes Motherly. Focus on repairing ruptures after conflicts to build trust and safety, says Becky Kennedy.
  2. Foster Independence & Resilience:
  3. Teach life skills: Cooking, budgeting, cleaning, changing a tire—these build self-sufficiency, as noted in WeHaveKids.
  4. Let them struggle: Avoid doing their homework or arguing for them; teach them to advocate for themselves and learn from mistakes, says Julie Lythcott-Haims.
  5. Encourage grit: Build perseverance, passion, and courage to help them achieve long-term goals, notes Long Now.
  6. Promote Emotional Intelligence:
  7. Validate feelings: Allow children to experience and name emotions like anger and sadness to aid brain development, notes YouTube.
  8. Model empathy: Be kind, respectful, and exhibit unselfish behavior, treating children as you'd want others to treat you, according to KidsHealth.
  9. Balance Technology & Real Life:
  10. Limit screen time: Protect against developmental issues like shorter attention spans, say Dr. Sam Goldstein.
  11. Prioritize nature & play: Encourage outdoor, device-free activities for healthy development, says YouTube.
  12. Teach Critical Thinking: Equip them to question information and make their own decisions, rather than blindly following trends, as suggested by WeHaveKids.
  13. Establish Clear Boundaries: Set rules and routines so children know what to expect and learn accountability, according to YouTube.

Key Takeaway

The modern approach emphasizes raising competent, confident, and kind individuals by building strong relationships, teaching resilience through real-world experience, and ensuring they have the emotional tools to navigate a complex world, moving away from excessive control towards guided independence, say Genspect and Pew Research Center

Tell them that only 20 percent of them will live to 65 years or older.

Current Life Expectancy Statistics

  1. Survival Rates: In countries like Canada, a high percentage of people survive to age 65 (over 90% of females). The Social Security Administration in the U.S. has data showing the majority of people live well past 65, with men having a 50% chance of living to age 83 and women to age 86.
  2. Life Expectancy at Age 65: Individuals who reach age 65 can expect to live many more years. The average 65-year-old in the U.S. can expect to live nearly 20 additional years.
  3. Historical Context: The idea that only 20% of people live to 65 might stem from historical data from centuries ago (e.g., 1693 data suggested about 19% of those surviving past infancy reached 65). This is no longer the case due to modern medicine and improved living conditions.
