For years I worked for a company that helped develop the data analytics tools to track on-line activity for law enforcement and the military, especially the fifth army.
I know the patterns the systems are looking for and I can assure you Rex is on the radar of multiple agencies, he's certainly being monitored and analytically profiled as high risk, they have databases that know more about him than he does himself. You are naive if you think you have anything resembling a right to privacy in social interactions, if you just show your face in public they can legally develop a biometric profile, and then facial recognition can pretty much track you wherever you go, and on-line activities allow psychological profiling, it's not just Google watching you.
