there are many theories on time. the one theory I dont buy is that time is relative and that universe doesnt have one present moment.
I can accept theory that time doesnt exist, and all events of past, present and future are already existing in B timeline. Sort of like how image frames on video are all already existing when video is being played.
Hmmm, why do people get old and then die?

Yeah, thats right, ..and in this corner we have ' smart aleck'.. weighing in with brain mass the size of ant. :--)) O ((--: ebuc-er-roo-roo

Because that is their event.
An event occurs and becomes a past issue, whereas a past issue doesn't occur and become a future event...Which still applies if we break down an event into sub-events...So death is a future inevitability, it occurs and becomes a past event.
If determinism is true, this cant be true but isn't entirely true.
If determinism is false, this is categorically false.
Determinism means time is just playing out a prewritten story and the 'movement' is merely part of the script.
Non-determinism would allow for past to progress into future in a literal way.

The Left Wing of US realise this but don't realise that pure freedom requires as low tax and free access to guns as possible. The Right Wing of US don't realise that secular pure freedom means the LGBTQ+ and abortion agendas both end up in line with US's liberty-first ethos.

Time is just an idea without any physical referent; it is conceptual and by definition, it moves in only one direction, it always flows from past to future.
It's true that within the mathematical formalisms of physical theories it has no directional coordinate but that is about the mathematics, not time.
Scientifically speaking, time's direction is determined by:
Putting philosophical semantics games aside, the reality of the situation is that all observations are that the past lies behind us and is fixed and immutable, the future lies ahead and is not fixed, and we can causally affect the future with our actions. Sir Arthur Eddington introduced the concept of the "arrow of time" in his seminal 1928 book, "The Nature of the Physical World". he demonstrated that the unidirectional, irreversible flow of time is dictated by the Second Law of Thermodynamics and the constant increase of entropy (disorder) in the universe.
He established scientifically that the arrow of time is a feature of the universe, its contents, and the way it has evolved.
Would you say Heisenberg's principle dictates that all evidence must exist in the past and never in the present?
Simply put, the act of observing itself consumes some measure of time that makes it impossible to observe evidence at t=0?

No, I wouldn't say that.
Simply put, the act of observing itself consumes some measure of time that makes it impossible to observe evidence at t=0?
Time is a measure of change, it measures the temporal interval between two events, it represents a duration, or temporal length of events and the intervals between them.
Consequently, I don't know what T=0 means.
If you are measuring a change, you need a reference point, as in t = 0

If you are measuring change, you need two reference points, wouldn't T=0 just represent "no time".

absolutely not, the number line extends infinitely in both directions; it does not end at zero.
zero is a common mathematical point indicating present time. You took physics in high school, right?
nearly all the textbook primers use this standard for the introduction into motion equations.

Are you talking about time difference of object moving and human eyes registering it?
Cuz that time difference is 0.1 to 0.14 seconds.
So yeah, whatever you think you see right now happened 0.14 seconds ago.
Correct. We know, on a galactic scale, that we can be observing a star that is actually going supernova now, and we won't know it happened for many years.
On a micro scale, it just means our consciousness can never exist in, or register, the present state of the actual world.
Heisenberg noted the act of observation changes the nature of observed particles, but there's 2 things going on at the same time that make this true. You can think of the act of observation analogous to active sonar pinging, but if the pinging were instant, there would be no change observed in the particle, even though the particle is definitely altered. But... Because there's a time delay, it absolutely makes a difference between the observed state and the actual state of a particle, which makes true observation of the present state of a particle impossible.
It's one reason why fast driving is extremely dangerous. You can travel 4 to 8 meters without registering it with your eyes in a speeding car. Because the delay in observation means you are at current point but your eyes have only registered movement before previous 4 to 8 meters. You literally "don't know whats there". It's why human reaction time of a driver can never be under 0.14 seconds.
Traveling at 128 miles per hour in a car means human eyes are late behind present moment for about 8 meters. So the driver is effectively blind for each next 8 meters.
It's not just the eyes, your brain has a synapse time, your nerves have a reaction time, your muscles have a reaction time. It all adds up.
This is just time it takes brain to register. When it comes to reaction time itself, driver driving at 128 miles per hour is effectively unresponsive to any changes happening in next 40 meters. Should a car appear in next 40 meters out of nowhere, he wouldn't even be able to make a reaction before hitting it.
Even if we were to take a very quick response time, 0.7 seconds, that is still car traveling about 40 meters before driver can react.
Drunk driver tho, with reaction time of 1.5+, can travel 40 meters in 1.5 to 2 seconds when driving 50 miles per hour. So drunk driver is effectively unresponsive for next 40 meters even when driving at 50 miles per hour.
Alcohol can delay reaction time by over 1 second, and in one second, car can travel 20 to 30 meters.
Even car moving merely 5 meters per second makes drunk driver effectively unresponsive on next 10 meters.

I know how it's used in mathematics, it's often one of the "two reference points" needed to measure time, and if it is a measurement of duration, T=0 represents no time.
That's not entirely accurate.
t = 0 does not mean no time. The change of t = 0 means no time.

almost no physics equation references duration of time without delta in the equation. it's easy to be confused if you haven't studied delta equations.

LOL, you do realize you just restated what I said. as a measurement of change (that's what delta means), T=0 means no time....it's the headline of your cut and paste even.
As I said, as a measurement, t=0 is no time, as a reference point, it is one of the two points necessary for a time measurement.
You said t = 0 as a measurement of duration. That's mathematically incorrect, or at best, imprecise. You were probably thinking delta t, not t.
Plain old t = 0 usually means in almost all standard physics equations:
and almost never as "duration"
Ξt = t β tβ = duration
Shoresy wrote:

Oh my God, apparently you don't actually know what delta means, did you even look at the cut and paste you did? Delta represents the change in time, it is a measurement of duration, and in that context (please refer to your own cut and paste), T= no time.
Plain old t = 0 usually means in almost all standard physics equations:
and almost never as "duration"
LOL, you mean it's something like T=0 represents the initial condition, or origin point, and that's one of the "two reference points" needed to measure time. OK, so let's say it's a "starting point", and then you have another term, let's call it the "ending point", and viola, that amount of time between those two reference points is what we call a time measurement.
I think I'm saying this in the simplest way I can, I really don't think I can dumb it down any further. Maybe go back and read it again, real slow for comprehension this time, and make sure you go back to the beginning because I've been saying the same thing each time.
because I've been saying the same thing each time.
and if it is a measurement of duration, T=0 represents no time.
Sorry, but this is very misleading. I'm not even saying you're wrong; it's just very imprecise.
Time like space is just potential and requires mass, whereby and wherein events can occur.
So:
T = 0
S = 0
T + S + M = E
Symbolism is as symbolism does.
Though my proposal was that events occur and then occurred...Rather than events occurred and then occur.
Well I'm very much a Universalist, and therefore something of a determinist I suppose.
Though I think that consciousness and individuality might affords us some potential to choose over and above that which is physiologically and universally predetermined.
But is choice spontaneous or inevitably predetermined by past events also.
Though deterministically...The future event, that became the event that became the past event...Or the past event that became the event that became the future event?
If determinism is true, this cant be true but isn't entirely true.
I meant can not can't. huge typo.
However overall you're wrong. if determinism is true time isn't even a real thing that moves, it's more conceptual tbph. It's an axiomatically real thing but aphysical. scientists have it wrong as they define time how Aristotle did, which is physical and not conceptual.

I currently run the the basic idea that time is a potential that affords mass events.
Though I may at times seemingly contradict this with the expression..."The speed of time", which is basically a reference to how the moment that we might regard as now, never occurs or is immeasurable...There is only ever the future and the past...Though perhaps boffins can measure now...I don't know...Maybe it relates to Planck Time or something.
Nonetheless, I was careful not to say that time moved, but rather that events moved in reverse order... Suggesting that future events become past events, rather than the past events become future events.
