Alright. As far as I’m concerned, both you and Shining are fine targets for a lynch this DP. Both of your claims are baffling in different ways, mainly based on your justifications. I agree, behaviorally, you have more support for being town than Shining does.

What’s pushing me over the edge with you to put you ahead of Shining is just how adamant you are about withholding this role information, and the more I keep reading, the more it becomes clear why. Both your roles require a prep period to use, and I’m not the only one who has called out that it’s odd for you to take a Guild invite when you know that will limit access to your roles even further (since you have to get two DPs where neither the Guild protective role you mentioned or the recruit are used).

Setting aside the fact that the character has never had goggles, you chose the Tracker role to pursue. Fine. That means you’re at least two NPs off from using this protective role that you’re so secretive about. Worse, it’s three because you’re going to use that Tracker. So either you’re banking on the game going much longer so that you’ll get access to that role (weird with two scum dead and a high likelihood that your Guild will try to recruit or protect itself at some point), or you’re keeping it secret to avoid a potential CC on your claim.

I get that you don’t like the focus on mechanics, but I can’t make sense of your choices this game if you’re town with this role. Why accept the Guild invite when it would further limit access to roles you would need 2 NPs to get? Why be so intransigent about a role that will take at least 3 NPs to access? I don’t get it. It doesn’t make behavioral sense to me. Maybe you wanted to use Guild chat to build your towncred so that you could look a little scummy in day chat. Maybe you just really hate the meta of seeking full role claims from players we are set to lynch and are willing to stand on principle against that. The former I can kind of respect, even if you had to know that that would make your role claim look off. The latter… well it’s either anti-town or scummy dude. Take your pick.

Well to be blunt I saw my role as weak. Doing something every other day vs me having access to a 24/7 chat with my ability? Quite bluntly I felt I could have a much stronger impact and better time playing this game by having that especially starting out with a confirmed town to work with. I feel that I am a monster with or without any role ability and applying my experience in a guild chat was the correct move. Give me the ability to coordinate a team and I can move mountains in this game.

Pretty simply a cost benefit view. The way I see it people are demanding details just because they want to know. They are not asking "What does this do to prove this dudes alignment." Its just that its the norm here to reveal PR with zero positive impact and large damage to town. This is why I keep referencing the learned behavior thing. People doing a thing because thats just what is done while not stopping to ask "What is the reason behind the thing I am doing" (in this case, demanding specifics of a protective claim)

So yeah. Im kinda telling everyone to pound sand and that I will laugh at them as I flip as I also push people to actually make a case against me. Not sure what else I could do if I am unwilling to cater to this toxic meta.

For the most part I'm just tired of thinking about this. This whole guild mechanic has made me feel like I'm screwing over one of my own by scumhunting. It sucks.

This did happen. I jumped into the game prior to reading the OP and even after did not really pick up on what a 'character' meant. Was also part of why I was so quick to claim my character. I generally ignore flavor and treat it as absolutely nothing. I disliked the focus on it D1 and worked to resolve the focus on it and move on.

When I accepted the guild invite I thought I was getting power and the potential of being role blocked as leader made recruits and such for having a team. Later figured out I was 'a character' and could have used my ability without being in the guild at all. Still feel that my PR is rather weak but a lot of why I really felt weak was me thinking "I get to act only on some nights and only if the guilds not doing some shit and then I get to do some function"

Kinda felt dumb there. But also again- I sorta have a haltered for flavor impacting game. I love flavor but when it plays a mech function it just gives an advantage to people that know the source material which kinda sucks. I rambled a decent bit with Luna about how dumb I was there for not recognizing it but honestly- woulda accepted the guild invite if I had known that either way.

Just got back from a long day. Need to go to bed early and get up for the gym, then will be more free for the rest of the week. I am NOT down to lynch Shining today. You all pressured and argued and made a very good arguments that there was a leaker in our guild. We outed Pie, his guildmate, Wryly's role, and my role to reach our best approximation of who that is, basically exposing most of the guilds to flush this person out. Unless someone has a really good argument that I am scum, Wryly is scum, or Pie is scum, I am lynching nobody else. If you wanted to lynch Shining, you should have fucking done it before I outed all this information.

Really- please guys- 2 things I would change about this game:

1- Do not make flavor any kind of impact on the game. Your just screwing everyone who has not watched the show and such in an unfair way.

2- Please use players account names. Holy shit its sucked hearing people like "Oh yeah, Tim would do this." Fucking Tim? I get its a small community but man it makes it hell to navigate the game.

If you wanted to lynch Shining, you should have fucking done it before I outed all this information.

A Tracker and a protective role don’t seem particularly weak to me, even if they do require some setup to make it possible to use them. I get the thinking, but at the cost of no mechanical confirmation or mechanical benefit to town… wouldn’t have made the same call, but it’s yours not mine.

I don’t see the benefit. This comes off as “I’ll never have access to this role, but I’m willing to deny town this info just to spite them because they haven’t given me a good reason to provide it.” That isn’t true anyway - Pie has pointed out that a specific role can be CC’d while a vague “protective role” is more difficult to CC - but I have to wonder what benefit you see in keeping this info secret since you likely will never have access to this role.
