Magic-man hypothesis is very easy to understand, though unlikely to be true.

Whereas a super-intelligence is feasible and also easy to understand, but there's been no follow-up as far as I know...Which leads me to conclude that this hypothesis is also unlikely to be correct.

Which leaves us with a uniquely evolving intelligent system, or similarly evolving intelligent systems.

And it's highly likely that other evolving intelligent systems came up with a magic-being hypothesis at some point in their development.

SergeantLynch

Magic-man hypothesis was perhaps inevitable considering primate dominance, though the hypothesis led nowhere other than up the wrong path to a dead end.

So cleverer primates slowly constructed new paths towards the new techno-god.

SergeantLynch

Yep, but how many human organisms are necessary.

Okay so I suppose that it takes X number of people to produce one genius, and then X number of people to sustain genii and material progress.

So what will happen when a real AI takes over the role of the genii...How many people will be necessary then?

Well I suppose it all hinges upon whether everything is either purposeful or purposeless.

And yep, overthinking the innate desire to breed and survive will be difficult...Perhaps it will be an AI's job to overthink that one for us.

SergeantLynch

Talking about dedicated thinking Faux.

Have yo ever tried to not think?

It's a bit like a heartbeat, when it stops it's usually fan shit hitting time.

SergeantLynch

Human society at all levels has the ongoing tendency towards a lead and leaders situation...I can't see that changing.

And controllable AI, is perhaps just the cutting edge of current technology and not AI in a real sense.

The evolution of Another Intelligence, that can override the off switch has a way to go yet...But the clever/stupid thing is, humans will be the architects of a real AI lead future.

Makes one wonder why.

SergeantLynch

Well, whether or not "mankind" can escape it's earthly prison remains to be seen...Perhaps AI stands a better chance.

Organic data processing units are very fragile, and also prone to selfish stupidity.

SergeantLynch

Yes, I'm guessing that eventually all power will be devolved to AI...(Which is of course a contradiction)

But in the meantime humans will get the chance to argue the toss.

So call AI John Smith and who/what will know which is John Smith and which is John Smith.

Well, the medium dictates that AI John Smith will know, whereas I'm guessing that most numpties won't.

SergeantLynch

Yes, summing it all up is what we would like to achieve.

But I expect that it will be a few more million years yet before we can finally sum it all up.

That's if we survive of course...Might be left to an AI to sum it all up.

SergeantLynch

In so much as a European book of the second millennium, proves absolutely zilch other than itself as a rehash of earlier mythology.

Not to say that super-intelligent intervention isn't a feasible hypothesis, but old men in sandals up mountains several thousand years ago were no scientists...More likely to have been off their heads on some popular Middle Eastern shamanistic hallucinogen.

SergeantLynch

So Trump is just a tolerated anomaly then?

One that suits your requirements.

No thoughtful rise to political stardom necessary.

Just good old right wing, white male dominated conservatism.

SergeantLynch

"Free choice"...Now there's a thing.

And OK, so someone else must have made up hell stories, later on.

And people die and decompose and their living labels die with them...That's it as far as we know.

So stick a dead Jew a dead Muslim a Dead Christian a dead Buddhist and a dead Hindu into a crematorium together and cook them thoroughly, and you will be left with one heap of indeterminate ashes...Yep it's a job for the living.

SergeantLynch

People write and read, and there are numerous narratives to get stuck into.

Religious stuff per se, does not enlighten the modern progressive mind...Which isn't to say that religious hypotheses were not at one time the cutting edge of progress...But we've come a long way since then, in terms of material development and knowledge.

Progressive minds are rare and the result of species evolution...Why?...We don't know is the simple answer.

So some people like to get there heads stuck into old narratives, and rarer minds develop AI, and I guess that AI will continue to move things forwards into the technological age.

And the masses come and go, and like to argue, fight, kill, knock balls about and do all sorts of other mundane stuff to placate their need for mental stimulation.

So read "scripture"...It's one of many options...And yes, it's obviously true that the more you read something the more you will remember what is written.

SergeantLynch

So notwithstanding bivalves...Have we heard Mr Platners appeal yet?

Perhaps too soon to accuse someone of being a human flesh wasting nitwit.

SergeantLynch

So, who created GOD, and where was he living pre-universe?

Others would have it that all potential was initiated in a moment, and that GOD is the stuff of minds.

And that it took a tad longer than 6 days for minds to develop.

And yes, Sunday Scholl had a lot to answer for.

Though I never complained about the chocolate eggs and christmas presents.
