Justification for Shoresy (who I now assume is authentically new since mod Kohai didn't say otherwise): He is very active, opinionated and while he's sometimes toxic in how he will express his view he's not bad faith trolling he really believes in whatever his stance is.

I gather that he's an unusual variant of right wing potentially Ancap, this leads to some strange takes where it doesn't align with the 'right' as americans know it and him being Canadian and slightly anti Republican while being also heavily anti-Dem gives him a genuinely unique perspective here.

Alright, let's do this, though not all at once.

1. Best debate

Debatecraft would benefit from a strict modding style as a opposed to a laissez-faire one. (Lunatic vs. Mikal)

Probably the closest debate I've judged on the site and its very first to boot, I think this was just an excellent display from both debaters covering a contentious issue. Both sides argued admirably and I really struggled to make a decision.

Should Legally Recognized Personhood be Extended to Non-Humans? (Hyper vs. Kohai)

A beautifully done opening round from Hyper set up a very intriguing debate that I think had some strong points from both sides, with Kohai pointing mainly to the logistical and legal issues that would make personhood thorny.

Resolved: That the President of the United States should be elected by the direct vote of the people. (Leaning vs. Savant)

A solid debate, Leaning set up a good case against the Electoral College and Savant came up with a creative and intriguing alternative to counter it.

Ruyi Zhuan Mafia (RexFavilla)

Yeah, it was super complex and there was a tremendous amount going on, but that was part of the fun. Rex did a tremendous amount of work designing these roles and balancing the game and I think it showed in the end product. Lot of opportunities for huge swings. Always a pleasure to work with Pie on the scum team. Had to do some begging with Luna to get this win (not proud of it), but it included a rare joint Mafia and TP win with Wryly dragged into the winning set at the end.

Alien Mafia (Lunatic)

This may just be me being biased, but the strat that Mikal and I came up with to Tailor Casey's flip into a Yakuza is something I still think about. Despite us both surviving to the end, we were constantly on the edge of being lynched this game and I think it was a pretty balanced and intriguing design.

Ryan George Cinematic Universe (Savant)

I'm not going to pretend this one went well. A major mistake on Wryly's part really cost scum, and Mikal could only do so much alone. That being said, I love and have to reward this setup. All the different versions of Ryan George had me absolutely tickled, I think it was relatively balanced, and I loved going back through so many of his videos.

whiteflame - For being a top debater and participating pretty consistently in tournaments, as well as significant dedication to modding.

Kohai - For making significant improvements to the site UI.

SatanLucy - For being a very active poster on the forums and in the Discord, as well as high-effort trolling.

Best Debate

Probably biased a bit, but I'm picking UltraRated debates since each side is assigned a random topic and side, so doing well there indicates significant dedication and skill.

Pretty good research from both sides. Hyper got an advantage due to framing the debate pretty strongly front, but Kohai put up a good fight on Hyper's terms.

Resolved: The justices of the Supreme Court of the United States ought to be term-limited.

A lot of good research by Hyper, and Nyxified put up a good fight trying to negate the advantage of citing a lot of sources.

THBT: Theism is more likely true than false

Solid job by each side, with both arguing against their personal beliefs.

Yeah, I'm going to nominate the team that makes this site happen.

Savant - No brainer. Dude has done so much for setting up the site to date, designed a lot of the new additions (shout out to Ultrarated debates), votes often and very well, and continues to be one of if not the best debater on the site.

Kohai - Also obvious. Again, essential for setting up so much of what we do here, always experimenting. A solid debater in his own right and one always trying to push into new territory, I have a lot of respect for his work.

Leaning - It takes a lot to step up into the mod team and regularly contribute as much as he does to decisions. I always appreciate how he thinks about this stuff. An effective debater in his own right and thorough voter, he deserves this.

Typically (in sports mostly I believe but it probably exists in other places too like art/media), inaugural HoF classes follow a slight different convention than other years, for example having more initial members elected in (so like 5 in the first year to recognize founding fathers, greatest impact players, or be more holistic in recognition etc, I believe we did do 5 members the first year on DDO and then 3 every year after that), and/or having some slightly different categories etc, it might be worth considering that, the one year anniversary is July, 11th, so we have time, but just figured I'd mention it, though it's not a big deal cuz the site is so young so it might be a moot thing.

In any case, I am going off the grid for about 2 weeks for my first vacation in about 8 years so I at least want to nominate some key members at the very least before I missed my chance.

Obviously, this is subject to change if the members I choose had prior accounts I either don't remember or cannot identify.

Hyper - Despite only having two debates so far and limited forum posts, Hyper has really impressed me. An extremely strong debater who puts a lot of thought into the structure and substance of their argument and discussions, I would love to see more from them.

Magoroth - He's thrown himself into the Mafia scene here and I'm happy to see it. I give Mago a lot of credit for sticking through some rougher early experiences and getting some really good play in as he's continued to evolve with the site. Stepping up to debate as well is huge, especially in the Ultrarated tournament.

Helz - I think Helz has been a valuable addition to the Mafia scene for the site, bringing in a very distinct perspective on setups and metas and really challenging others on it.

Cancel my Shoresy nomination, I thought he was new.

I nominate Savant for being the lead developer of the website and key leader of ultrarated tournaments.

I nominate Mikal because he is the key leader of the site socially and also on the Discord.

My third and final nomination goes to...

Airmax1227 because he rubs the YT, pays and owns the site and is historically gigafamous if we mean DDO era, even more than Mikal is.

This is a veey skilled debarer, it is good to have that on the website.

Magoroth - active enough thar on activity alone is a major new user candidate. Very active and a boost for the site.

Savant - Very active user, helped site a lot, one of top debaters, does coding too, and created some site's functions which never existed before.

Whiteflame - Long term moderator and member, one of top debaters and the guy who takes time to respond to just about anyone and makes effort to help.

Bones - One of most interesting debaters in existence, along with being a top debater. Bones's debates are never boring to read. It's not just the arguments. It's the writing style which makes them stand out. Because writing a good argument is one thing, writing a good argument which is fun to read is another.

Solo Leveling for the huge playercount that Mikal managed to wrangle, including the return of several old-school players, the long run-time, the interesting and novel setup, and the excellent scum performance by Mag1c and Banana

Rangers Apprentice - I just really, really like this game and had a lot of fun playing it lol. Was high stakes and imo well balanced with high engagement from a lot of good players, including Thoth's best scum game.

Frieren for a really cool setup utilizing multiple novel roles. Really wish this one had lasted a little longer, you can tell a lot of care went into the setup and it ended early through no fault of the host.

1. Best moment

Mag1c melting down and posting his role PM in Zelda mafia.

Wylted yolo-voting WF out the gate at MYLO in that same game, which was wild, extremely ballsy, and won them the game in a second

Best Moments

1. The Pitt DP2 when Luna fake claimed tracker result on their partner wylted. Luna HARD bussed wylted, got massive town cred, and won in MyLo. This was such a ballsy play and it paid off big time.

I think everyone who made the DDO or DART HoF should be grandfathered in for the DCraft HoF.
