You're presenting a false dichotomy. Within B is a myriad of other positions that aren't the same. Within B is:

1. Rapists are worse
2. Both suck
3. Neither suck

None of those argue the same thing.

I haven't planned your character yet. I have enough characters planned out for the first handful of chapters (won't give an exact number of chapters because I'm still not sure how long I want to make the chapters). Beyond those handful of chapters will depend on a few things (most notably if, whenever I get around to finishing and posting the damned things, they get enough attention to warrant continuing them).

For the most part, it's as "whatever characters I have designed", especially for these early introductions. Most major characters are pretty set in stone. But I have plenty of room to play around with minor characters, so if you have some preferences as to who your character is, I can try to work them into a minor character if there isn't a major one that fits the bill.

That's just...like...your opinion, man. Voting quality on DC has actually been pretty high from what I've seen, just infrequent.

The idea of regulating votes is, in itself, fucking hilarious. The only level of 'regulation' that sound exist on votes is some effort to push people towards actually reading the debate and understanding what is being said. Otherwise, people should absolutely be free to vote however they'd like. But they do, in fact, have to do the bare minimum of reading the debate and voting based on what was said in the round.

That being said, there is no such thing as an 'objective win standard' for votes because each debate is different. There's an infinite possibility of different topics that exist, and even in debates where the topics are the same, the arguments presented within by either/both sides could vary wildly. Given that voting should be based solely off of what was said in the round, to try and impose some 'objective' standard to this is impossible and stupid to try.

So yes, voting requires effort. Just as much as actually competing in the debate does. It's certainly a doable level of effort, and if you're on here the idea shouldn't really faze you that much. But if you're legitimately put off by the thought of putting in effort to reading a debate and voting based on what was said and not just whatever you want to say, then you should absolutely not vote.

Correction. There's plenty of discussions that happen on there. Those same types of discussions happen on the forums. If you want to do a formalized, competitive debate, like what the entire point of this site is supposed to be for, voting is something that needs to exist.

The entire point of the website is to be a model of competitive debate so that people can practice and hone their skills in something that is vaguely reflective of real world competitive debate. If your friends are looking for any other generic forum board, there are a multitude of better options for them to peruse.
