This is probably by far the dumbest reason I've ever died in a game of Mafia, but even if people come to their senses, I'm just going to get dragged through the rest of the game as a free wagon for scum to claim whenever they want to. Better to just get it over with now so y'all can move on. My wagon will be super interesting to look at tomorrow.

You seem to have claimed you have an ability that required for you to be in a guild to use while also saying that it does not require you to be in a guild to use it.
Heavily contest that I ever claimed that. The post that Luna points to to say that I did is such a hilarious way to misconstrue my own words that if he wasn't mod confirmed town I'd be OMGUS pushing him instead of Kohai.
I've made multiple allusions to say that I don't need to be recruited for my role to work. No where in the post that Luna quotes do I make the claim that I can only motivate people after I've been recruited, if anything I've explicitly said the opposite. The closest Luna's argument gets to it being a 'slip' is the Popular claim, but even that's such a monumental reach. My soft claim made two claims - I had two roles that I referenced with those claims. Neither of them rely on me being recruited to function (as we've already proven with the Popular claim happening).
So realistically, Luna and Wylted are the only ones who get a pass for this because they're effectively mod confirmed town. I'm extremely motivated now to push a Kohai wagon based off of the "Look at me I'm so townie" behavior of jumping up and down trying to claim credit for a Thoth wagon that was happening regardless of anyone's involvement followed by a really contrived jump onto this bandwagon.

Just caught back up. I see that I'm being voted for the weirdest semantic argument that ignores the OP in DP1.
Like, if that's what you want to kill me off of, then sure, I guess? The people wagoning off of it are either blind and didn't read the DP1 OP or are hella sus.
That being said, I don't see the harm in just targeting one of the Guild Leaders at minimum on the off chance that they use a role, so I'm wondering why you didn't do that.
Such a small edge case scenario that it isn't worth the risk of being redirected onto scum. Guilds were 100% recruiting last night, so why open myself up to unnecessary risk, even if that risk is small?

Minor fos on Kohai for the "Look at me I'm so town" behavior - "leading" the Thoth wagon doesn't really say much because he was 100% dead no matter how you slice it, so trying to claim it as town cred is kinda weird. Still in my null pile because otherwise their D1 behavior was relatively townie, but it's something to think about.

In the moment? Someone in my town pile who had an ability that a) they can use and b) would benefit from being doubled. Willing to budge on the town pile if they're in my null pile and their claim is believable.
In retrospect, they also kinda can't be in a guild unless I think that Luna/Wylted aren't recruiting that night, otherwise it doesn't do anything.
If scum dont know what your role is, why on earth would they redirect an unknown town role onto themselves?
Sure, I grant you that they don't know my role, but it's a calculus I have to make because I know my role. And I have to account for redirectors because I softclaimed that I can do things without being recruited, which makes me a more clear target for redirecting given that the gimmick of the game is a lot of people don't have roles until they get recruited.

It's less of a "no strong enough town reads" and more of a "no good targets".
Like if I am a mafia redirector and I target you, it doesn't really matter who you originally targeted?
My understanding of redirectors is if I'm not targeting or visiting anyone then I can't be redirected.
Thats not what I said. I said in case they chose not to. Only they can evaluate the cost/benefits
My point is that there's absolutely no reason, from my POV, that Luna shouldn't recruit last night. From that POV, there's zero reason to target people in Luna's guild (or Wylted's for that matter, because he also should've recruited) because no one in their guilds can use their abilities. So unless you want to defend that Luna shouldn't have recruited, then saying "just target people in guilds" doesn't make sense.

I should, but it's a question of risk analysis. For someone who I read as null, do I risk getting redirected onto scum for an uncertain benefit? Had you claimed something like Cop, then the risk becomes worth it (assuming I buy the claim). With no information to go off of, I decided it wasn't worth the risk, which ultimately was the correct decision because (assuming Luna recruited), you couldn't use your role anyway.

My role is also pretty specifically damning if redirected onto scum.

The other risk is having my night action redirected onto scum, which isn't worth it for a null read.
Also just asked Mikal because I vaguely recalled recruiting messing with guild night actions. If guilds recruit, everyone in the guild waves their night actions. Assuming the guilds recruited (which why wouldn't they last night), targeting REF wouldn't do anything even if he could've benefitted from it.
I mean...okay? Like, if REF ends up claiming like a tracker or something then sure I'll eat my words, but there's plenty of town roles that doubling doesn't really affect, at which point what's the meaningful difference between targeting them and not targeting them, and I'd rather use my ability on people who can take advantage of it.
Why Kohai? He was in my town pile at the end of the day D1, but the way he's opened this DP is weird.
What if mafia have a death tailor? This would explain why there was no guilty / innocent flip
I asked Mikal about that after the day ended and he said he doesn't do guilty/inno flips in his games.
As a side note for activity purposes, I have a D&D game that's scheduled to start in ~an hour. I'll be gone for most of the rest of the night once it starts. Once my Popular pops, I'd love to not get turbo killed before I've had a chance to check back in.
In theory, not visiting plays around other ways to fuck with my targeting (like a redirector or something).
In practice, I just didn't think about it.

Other than he's the only openly claimed person to be in a guild, no reason to believe that his role is one that's worth doubling. Also not sure he'd know what to do with it if I gave it to him (no offense intended).
