I don’t really like the word lynch because of its racially charged history, but I agree that every replacement sounds wrong. “[Player] is slated to be our day elimination” is almost as cadenceless as white people singing along to Dr Dre when other people are around.

I found an instance of my role, with the same name but slightly different mechanics, within about ten minutes of Ctrl+F'ing through endgame threads on DebateArt, so maybe it's not as rare as I thought. That, or I'm just saying this in hopes scum will waste their time.

I think I was on to something with the MafiaUniverse role list softclaim. It fails just because claiming Common is putting a neon sign on yourself reading Please Kill Me. I have a problem to think about during the night phase. The search for an optimal soft-claim categorization almost seems like a potential programming problem.

I'm at a loss as to what role could make whiteflame's flip reveal a POE to you, except maybe Informed, but I'm sure you've heard of that one, so it can't be that.

I would be pretty uninformed if I had never heard of that.

Ok so he said he's never seen his role before, which might explain why I'm coming up blank on what role could explain a post like that.

It's probably due to my relative noobity or this site's meta. I could probably find more occurrences (must resist temptation to google-check if I spelled that word correctly) if I searched DebateArt's archives for long enough.

Why do you scumread Mag1c

Call it vibes.

My only real scumread so far is Mag1c and even that's not especially strong. I'm getting null vibes off of WF and Pie as always. Null on Rex too. Solid town on Wryly and Kohai, a bit less solid on Magoroth. Slight scum on Shining.

I don't like Pie's, "claim or your head on this pike", act, but from him that's NAI if not townie. Pie's initial "softclaim" was negative on the Mohs scale, even though he claimed event later. Typical hypiecrisy.

Because reasons, I'm gonna say that, if whiteflame flips scum, there's a high chance that the other scum is in Pie, Rex, Shining, and Wylted.

I think Kohai is townlock. No way he just suggests that we lynch him as scum.

That also makes it a scummier claim because wagons won't build on him out of caution and it's only confirmable by lynching him.

This is why I hate hated as a role. It should be used as a modifier to a good role so you have a reason to keep the person alive. As it stands now, it's optimal play for us to lynch Kohai, but because it's optimal play his lynch will reveal very little as far as behavior and wagons go.

You said you were one of the first two options in your original soft list. Which one

I thought decision, but after reading up, it may be more event than decision. I don't want to say more.

Now I want to come up with a theoretical optimal soft that reaches the best balance between locking scum in and not letting them identify town roles.
