Theres a cheese strat where we force 4 people to vote yes, and if it doesn’t go through, it’s basically confirmed that there’s scum in that pool. I don’t think Banana thought of this though
Possibly a pairing of Thoth/Pie

Basically anyone who supports a "Yes" vote I am guessing? lol

So let's say we find out the role is a Godfather or roleblocker or something. Does that really help us that much in the grand scheme of things, when those are common to scum anyway? Just have to weigh if the knowledge is worth a potential buff.
The offer implies that scum have a role where just knowing about it helps town. This is useful information in and of itself. Like, knowing that scum have a roleblocker is not very helpful since we would probably find that out by day 2 and would probably choose the same targets for our night actions anyway, but knowing that scum have a Godfather could change how a Cop plays.

In general, I'd at least most mods would give scum some sort of counter to a cop. However, you may be cooking with the point about the offer implying that town knowing this role could mean its a useful role to know about. I could probably be swayed into a yes.

I think my justification is solid. Let me check the wiki.

Mine is too, at best you can say the role link doesn't check out like crazy, but in the very least the description of the character seems accurate.

I voted no. I think it’s better to go on the safe side and not give scum an unknown advantage when there’s no information on what that advantage is.

So how do you know the benefits outweigh the harms? Or are you just saying act like it doesn’t even exist?

Down to try it, not sure if there is a way for scum to game that, id have to think about it more, but at face value seems like a decent strategy.

Possibly. Do you think scum chose option 1 or option 2 for fake claims. That’s a key piece

If Wylted is scum, I'd guess they chose two fake claims. Otherwise, I have no clue.

The way I see it, there are 3 options:

1) He’s straight claiming his character as scum and asked about PGO

2) He asked about both character and PGO

3) He’s Town and PGO

Of the those options, I doubt 3 is likely, just based on how the he justified the role completely incorrectly. Wiki backs up what I am saying if you look her up. Looks like he poorly skimmed the wiki and threw that together. Sarah doesn't want to kill anyone and everyone entering the town, just the Matthews family and jade because she was threated her brother would die or something like that.

I guess that could be a real justification in the loosest form possible if banana didn't put any effort into character sheets.

I think I know what he’s doing. But if you do too, then it’s not as obscure lol

If he's town I don't know what he's doing, but I know he's up to something. Hopefully its more big brained than it appears at face value lol.

The more I thought about it the more I think he's probably town doing some stupid shit that probably won't work. But I'll let him cook.

Wylted is definitely a lazy fake claimer. If he is fake claiming then he doesn't have an experienced scum mate though, because they would not have signed off on it, or would have helped him with his claim. I am starting to lean towards he's lying, but doing some ploy as town. I'll have to analyze his behavior going forward, but yeah in the past when hes scum slipped with his claim its usually after getting a lot of pressure into claiming. He doesn't usually claim off the bat like that as scum. Chances are he is making a really bad ploy to bait scum.

Also, is it common for PGOs to claim here? I can see the arguments for it and it seems believable people would do this here

I would say that PGO should be claimed yes. The cost of town hitting PGO is pretty high, especially if its a cop or doc doing it. I would say the only case where it would probably be acceptable to play risky and not claim PGO would be if someone was really confident in their ability to bait a scum visit. The chances of that ever happening seem low with most of the playerbase here, and most people would likely screw that up, so in most cases people should probably just claim PGO IMO.

I myself, would not do it, but then again Veteran or whatever is a rare role, I don’t think I’ve seen it more than once or twice in like 50 games or so.

It is pretty rare. On DDO we had a game end on np1 because royalpaladin was a PGO and half the playerbase visiter her. As funny as it was, the game was over pretty quick.

Why don't you do a Google search for my name with the word "PGO"

Next to it to see my prior discussions on this and cut it out fool

I mean I did think about that, you could be baiting or something. But at the same time it’s kind of an obvious play and unless mafia is precisely two people who aren’t the greatest, chances are it won’t fool them. And it still doesn’t explain getting the justification wrong. If you didn’t mess up like that in castlevania I’d be more willing to consider you were doing some kind of ploy here. I mean I am open to it, but I kind of want to hear other people’s thoughts here

Yeah that is not accurate. This is a character I do remember and I would definitely remember if voices told her to kill everyone. It’s like half accurate, she was told to kill someone and I think she left the door open and got the old Asian guy killed.

Spent hours this morning arguing with Whiteflame and Mikal about the drug dealer. The drug deal 100% would have affected the role but I couldn’t explain the role cop obviously. But then Thoth just comes in and answers that the drug dealer needed to be used on a specific named role. At that point I just kind of gave up because I just spent my entire morning arguing why it wouldn’t and that was the only point really being harbored against me, the mod just sabotaged my only way of winning. The second time a mod answer resulted in scum being fucked.

This is why mods need to have strict no answer policies when it comes to player questions about hypothetical roles. It’s always being used to game the system and gain an advantage. The WIFOM should be left to the players. Even with the confirming the mistake . Mods make mistakes but you never confirm you made them publicly. You hats like the golden rule. Let people wifom about it. I get Mikal badgered Thoth into an an answer but Thoth didn’t need tot ale the bait. Mikal is always going to push angles like that for a benefit with the mod, you ignore him.

Anyways frustrating game all around. No real winners here

I'm not dismissing any of those points (I'm going to stop the long quote crawl for a minute), they're all among my considerations. It's entirely possible that the manipulation of your role was somehow done by Rex and his role, which I'll point out, would also mean there's another scum JOAT in the mix. Maybe I'm just overthinking it and Mag1c's role was actually responsible. There's a lot of behavioral points in your favor, and like Kohai said earlier, I'm tempted to just vote him out of sheer frustration for his lack of participation. He's made it virtually impossible to read him, so we're having to dance around his behavior and focus on yours and Mag1c's instead. It's the same boat I got into with Earth a few games back and he won there as scum because Thoth came off as too scummy for me to ignore.

I think the most infuriating aspect of this is that I even have to work with and negotiate with you guys. I was fully committed to trying to scum side, since it barely happens, then Rex just fucking throws that at me lol. It was clear to me it was rex and magic toward the end, I just needed one of anyone else plus them to vote for one of wylted or mikal and I could have hammered and given them the win lol. They took the desperate road and tried to claim third party, now I have to sit here and back track and try to win with town when I never had any interest in doing that, and I'm sitting here arguing for my life because I have to now lol

Lunatic
I have a hard time believing that Thoth gave one scum member a role that he'd publicly reveal through an Informed Town player, so yes, I believe there very well could be two JOATs (it's not that uncommon, particularly with this many investigatives)

Can you cite an example of when you've seen two JOAT's? Maybe I just wasn't in that game, but yeah even if there was like one case study game, thats not a very compelling argument that there has to be two JOAT's, especially if your choosing to buy that over the obvious one thats already flipped in the drug deal.

to give scum more utility beyond the Tailor while drawing attention to it.

Magics role a roleblocker, lookout/scout (on top of the one pie had allegedly and kohais), and and ascetizer, that plus a tailor is already a lot. At most I could probably buy them having an odd/even, or a day role on top of that, but a whole ass second JOAT seems a bit odd to me.

That doesn't mean you'd have to necessarily be a 1X Messenger, but it does mean you'd have to have a role akin to it, and if you're a JOAT, then yes, I believe it would be 1X.

My point is that you have to conjure up some made up role that essentially works like a messenger to believe I am scum, instead of just accepting that magic either guessed right and used his role correctly between 2 players, me and kohai. I just don't understand how one is an easier narrative to believe than the other. Sure be open minded to it, but Mikal is literally openly choosing the first option over the latter, and now your regurgitating that, which further muddies the waters that I am some wierd ass message sending role instead of what I claimed.

A lot of the rest of this is WIFOM.

If you people can't accept my confirmable role as proof, then all I have is WIFOM. The fact that rex gets to just let us out wifom ourselves here to take a laid back easy win, is working precisely in his favor too. He doesn't even have to WIFOM, he can just let you guys tear me apart when I am the only one actively trying to achieve a win for both me and town now.

A Tailor is a big deal and Thoth wasn't likely to load the player who got it down with other huge roles.

But isn't that exactly the point I am making?

I understand if it's frustrating, but I'm going to kick the tires on theories before I vote anywhere. You can't expect me to just ignore these concerns or refocus elsewhere because, like it or not, you've posted way more than Rex. We have a lot more to consider with you.

You don't have to ignore it, but from a logical stand point you shouldn't place a lot of stock in them because they just don't make enough sense. I know you know that. I feel like the fact they are being entertained is probably respect for me as a player, but I don't think this same thing would be even taken nearly as seriously if it were someone else. Basically you guys are being extra paranoid about it because of you don't want scum luna to pull one over on you. To that extent I get it, but at the same time, its just ugh....

So Mag1c was pretty clearly falling on his own sword at the end there. He had to know that claiming the JK and saying he targeted the player who both claimed Link and claimed a successful night action would be a huge risk. Not saying that he knew from the moment he claimed that he was going to get lynched, but he clearly knew that the writing was on the wall if we bought into it wylted's claim at all.

Looking through his last few pages, I'm mainly wondering if his caps locked "LETS MAKE A DEAL" posts were more performative or real. Was that just outright desperation play knowing that he'd be fucked given how many people were pairing Luna and him, or was this some last minute distancing?
100% last minute distancing dude. Dude knew he was caught and about to be lynched. Since when do we ever trust someone whose known scum in that scenario?

It's not about whether I "trust" him, it's about what I think he was trying to do here. If he really believed this was the end, then I don't have to trust anything, I can just note that he was trying to get the TP on the same page to secure a vote that he probably wouldn't get anyway. A frustrated Mag1c might do just that.
Magic is calculated as fuck, I am not buying that he was frustrated. I saw him work wonders in Ted Lasso. Town magic gets frustrated, as you saw with the rage quit a few games ago. Anything magic is doing in the final throws of death is planned to make me look bad lol.

You think if I was scum with him I would sign off on any of that? Also you have seen me resign for way less, you think if I was magics scum partner I wouldn't have resigned after mikal/wylted got mod confirmation?

Given the circumstances, I'm not quite as sure that Mag1c was being calculated here. The comparison to a game where he carried scum to a win feels a bit off since, here, he wasn't exactly in a position to do anything other than direct attention. Maybe that's what he was doing. Maybe he was just mad that he was the first scum eliminated. Honestly, haven't seen many games where he goes down early as scum, so it's hard to say.

I am just saying if the dude is already admitting he is scum, and is blaming the mod for stuff there's two possibilies:

  1. He is trying to spread wifom manipulation
  2. The scum team is conceding.

2 didnt happen, both me and rex are claiming third party, so it's obivously 1. If you believe he was genuinely going against his team mate, you are literally buying into the manipulation he is selling.

And no, I don't think you'd sign off on that. It's less a matter of what you'd approve and more a matter of what he'd do regardless of what anyone said. Would you resign in that circumstance? Maybe.

Like I said, you've seen me resign for less bro. Mikal was hard tunneling me at the end of the phase, and even calling me scum at the end. Kohai was calling me scum as well. Neither of them are dead. Wylted is dead, out of all people. Why is wylted dead? It almost looks like the people selected for LYLO were the exact ones rex/magic knew would have bias against me in the last day phase.

Rex's lack of activity doesn't help his case and if I was in your shoes, I would've at least tried to swing a vote against him like you're doing. Not saying that makes you scum, just saying I don't buy into the whole "I'd have given up by now" position with so many of us questioning the Unjester coming into this DP.

He's stuck between having to pretend to care and not pretend to care. Mechanically with his fake claim he has to pretend to be inactive and not care, so why did he come in and bother saying anything? If your willing to buy scum conceded, then why couldn't his claim and subsequent play be a form of concession? He literally has to do nothing but sit in the shadows and watch the chaos of what he did unfold about him, and its working like a fucking charm. He set up his fake third party claim to do exactly that. If he loses, no sweat off his back, he has less than 30 posts in the game and he can just blame the mod for his loss if you guys lynch him. Magic was already doing that. They can just chill and hope town wifom themselves to death, which is exactly what is happening. You think magic and rex aren't genius for that shit? Seems pretty genius from my POV.

If it weren't for the bad result. Id insta vote rex but im stuck on it. Its just way to easy of a way to confirm magic and himself.
I mean there's a million ways to explain that, including one in the flip. We've discussed them all, yet to keep stamping your foot and looking for ways to create a way I could be scum. Like I would understand your argument slightly better if I was the one who claimed the cop result. BUT KOHAI DID. I have no control over how he got the result he did. Its just insane man. Every reason you can come up with to scum read me you will. There's literally no point. Just lynch me and get it over with.

I'm going to do a deeper dive before I make a call, but I'd like to get into the result more along the way.

So just walk me through this. The result Kohai received would conceivably have been affected by something like a GF or a Lawyer. We know Mag1c wasn't the former. We do know Mag1c had the Drug Dealer role, which could have affected the results received by Kohai if he'd known what role to ask about. That being said, you've stated straight up that your role doesn't even have a name, so Mag1c likely couldn't have just called you "Cop" and had that been enough to satisfy the Drug Dealer's specific condition. I guess it's possible that Thoth would give some leeway there and modify the result, and the role does say that it will also modify information the target gives, not just receives.
Why don't you ask Thoth? I don't know the answer of how the drug deal works any more than you do. Straight up ask him how it would interact with a result, instead of expecting me to have the answer for a result I myself didn't even receive. Like I said, I wasn't the one claiming the innocent on magic, kohai was. I would understand the onus being on me to explain that if I was the one who claimed an innocent on him, but it just didn't happen.

It's your role, dude. You should be able to ask Thoth what, specifically, the Drug Dealer would have to call your role as in order for it to effectively change the result that Kohai received. I can ask a generalized question about whether a role like yours could just be called the "Cop" by the Drug Dealer and have the result changed, and I already have, but you should be able to get that answer tailored to your role, specifically.

I have already asked him, he isn't on right now. But you should be asking him if your the one with the problem with the result is my point. I asked him specifically "How would magic's drug deal work with my role" If you want to ask him the same one you should phrase is like "How would magics drug deal work with roles like a hypothetical cop who sends investigations to others" or something like that.

Like I said, dude, I did ask him. It's a question with multiple hypotheticals from my end. It's a question with one from yours.

I am just saying to weigh the favor of me being responsible for the false result you have to believe that there is 2 JOATs (Something rarely seen in games), that I am exactly a 1x messenger, because if I was more than 1x and scum, makes literally no sense for me not to send someone a result. And if you are buying that you have to buy why as scum I would use a 1x messenger in a JOAT role over any thing else when we KNOW town is OP as fuck. None of it makes sense, and to disregard the drug deal, (which is arguably the most powerful role in the JOAT list), is to play from the definitely weaker side of the fence. I've also floated other theories, like my results possibly being insane because I am third party. So idk man, you can understand my fatalism that mikal is this convinced I am scum and doesn't seem to be considering Rex in the slightest, and now you are harping on the same points as him.
