I was a little curious about that conclusion jump as well.

Again, that was a hypothesis, not a conclusion. I think it makes more sense than one scum and one third-party unless Magic has used 1 scum/1TP in his games.

Gut scum read is Thoth. Some of his posts just read as TMI to me. Especially the one about 2 scum but they can’t communicate

I was just adding a log to the blind speculation bonfire, but I do see what you are getting at since I outed my own anti-claim mechanic in Suikoden for the sake of method acting.

You seem to have a superpower of naming the scum team when angry, like the Hulk becoming an un-jolly green giant. Mind if we toss some insults your way so you can finish the game early for us? It's all in good faith.

Thoth
Gotta speak my mind, though I don't think I'm giving anything away he hasn't already.

I thought it was obvious, although I suppose I could be wrong, but in any case you can't assume that other people pick up on what you do, or vice versa.

Thoth
You read my mind!

(Post #43) And you are like a decade and a half older than I am, if memory serves, so when Spongebob first aired, you would have been somewhere around eighth grade, and I would have been in the second trimester. Spongebob unites generations.

Another possibility is that there are two blind scum (see how they run!), meaning that they cannot communicate and possibly do not know who each other are, or scum A knows scum B but not vice versa.

Thoth
Yeah and i am kind of wondering why he would tell people to put their discords on private if there was only one scum

To make us think there are two scum?

Thoth
What the heck is your profile picture btw

A cropped section of the cover of an edition of The Player of Games by Iain M Banks. I think it is supposed to represent one of the biotech pieces in Azad.

This is speculation and I don't know Magic's approach to Mafia game construction well enough to gauge how likely it is, but it could be that he built this setup knowing that it could end on day 2 because he wanted to get the Mafia ball rolling again and move on to bigger games.

Thoth

Interesting logic, but in a game with this few players, it's reasonable to expect that normal principles have gone out the window. I did realize earlier that the game could potentially be over by the end of day 2 and was not thrilled by it, but Magic might have built in some other mechanic(s) that could keep the game going for longer despite having two scum. I also feel that having one scum rather defeats the purpose of Mafia being a game of an informed group versus an uninformed group, although that's not to say that Magic feels as strongly about it as I do.

Thoth

I hope that this game will spark enough of a resurgence in Mafia activity on here that I can run my Culture setup with 10 players afterwards. That setup basically demands 10 players, so if I can't get a full house, I will run something different.
