I also don't see Rex gunning for whiteflame like this as scum. This reminds me of when he was going against the tide to sus whiteflame last game.

Rex is prone to pushing targets like this as either town or scum, so I see that as NAI. The main thing that seems odd to me is how he's doing it, basically calling me out for not responding directly to a point he said he'd elaborate on and never did. At the very least, it's a pretty weak argument.

I agree it wasn't terribly persuasive. You're "lawyery" (I prefer "Tuvok-ish") as either alignment.

It just seems like you're a hard target to get lynched and it would be smarter for scum!Rex to go for lower-hanging fruit.

I think you're glossing over the role confirmation. The OP specifically says that "A message of hope appears," and while I can buy that Kohai might give scum a seemingly town-confirmed role, that seems like him putting his finger on the scale. Apart from that, I can't say I see a lot of difference in Banana's behavior. The push on you seems a little sudden, but I at least get where this is coming from, especially given the possibility of your being a Redirector. The main thing that's bothering me from her is a lack of reads. Usually by now, she's at least given some indication of how she sees everyone, but I haven't gotten any clarity on how she sees most of us.

I agree with this. Banana is not on the table for me.

Wryly

Here's the setup of Kohai's previous few games, if anyone's interested.

Nothing jumps out at me as "town Nexus + town Redirector" egregious. And he put multiple protective roles in both games, so Mag1c's Doctor and a BP Luna wouldn't be out of the question.

I need everyone to name exactly one person who they would lynch right now, gun to your head

Sigh. Yesterday I would have said Luna with more confidence. If he's a Redirector, I consider that a soft CC with Thoth. I see no reason to sus Rex. We have nothing on whiteflame except vibes and paranoid suspicion that his claim is concocted from a Role Cop, but the bitch of it is you almost never have anything concrete on whiteflame. I guess I'll still say Luna. Luna has been a little squirelly since whiteflame's claim, and I thought it was weird last DP when he accused Banana of jumping on the Thoth wagon quickly when she had been sussing him since page 2 or 3. But mostly it's just that his comments have indicated he's a Redirector and I can't square that with a Nexus.

#76 is in reference to game balance mechanics that I already know for a fact exist that no one else can know based on my role pm, talking about overlapping mechanics in general. I'd rather not elaborate on this.

I doubt you would make this comment if you were just Bulletproof, so I do agree with wylted that your comments indicate Redirector.

I can understand lynching me to confirm my role and result, but while I think the Role Cop argument has merit, it's banking a lot on my having a certain role and making a very specific choice with it.

This is what you said in Chicago Bears mafia when you were scum btw lol

I'm not putting Mag1c at L-1 but like, consider me on him in spirit. I will be unavailablehhh until I am done mowing.

Princess Donut has named your party The Royal Court of Princess Donut.
Princess Donut has changed your title to Royal Bodyguard.
Princess Donut has changed her title to Grand Champion Best in Dungeon.

"Really?"
Wryly

I looked up the setup of previous Kohai games, Legend of Zelda and Nostalgia mafia, and I didn't see much support for the idea that he would put two roles in the game whose Venn diagram is almost a circle.

A scum role cop against the stuff already revealed seems very weak

Could be a JOAT

Why use a role cop though. Doesn’t make much sense. I think WF is telling the truth

Why not use a Role Cop if it can secure you a fake claim? Is that a role scum normally save for later or something?

Wryly

For the record I'm not completely dismissing Lunatic's suggestion that whiteflame could be a scum Role Cop pretending to be a Comedian. He could cop Luna, see he's Bulletproof, give a fake list with the other two roles being a flipped role and a sus role, and whatever happens after that is still a net gain for scum. Either Luna says ok I'm Bulletproof and whiteflame gets a little towncred, or Luna is resistant and begins to accrete suspicion.

I don't think it's the likelier possibility, but it's on my mind. Would like to hear from others on this since several of you seem to be buying whiteflame's claim.

New Achievement! War Criminal

You have killed more than 20 non-combatants in a single attack!
Question: What's the only thing standing between an innocent child and a happy, fulfilling life?
Answer: You. The answer is you.
Reward: You've received a Gold Asshole's Box!
"Goddamn it," I said again.
"What?" Donut said, looking up with what appeared to be genuine curiosity. "It's not like they didn't have it coming. You didn't ask to be here. They're goblins! What kind of vile monster sticks babies in the boss battle room anyway?"

Wryly - I don't blame her for the focus on Thoth. I was giving him a lot of allowance for the usual weird behavior, but he was pushing that far enough that I had my vote on him for a while. I also just generally love all the Dungeon Crawler Carl quotes. I haven't read it yet, so this is all just teaser material encouraging me to pick it up ASAP, just what I need. She was relatively light in response to wylted's VTL. I get the argument about the Nexus pseudo-CCing a Redirector, though multiple roles that shift targets wouldn't be that unusual, particularly when one of those is passive and random and the other is directed. Still think that if Luna's the Redirector, he's more likely scum than not, but I can't dismiss the possibility that there's a town Redirector off-hand. Generally speaking, I like Wryly's interactions with Luna, which seem pretty balanced. I'd say slight town overall.

Danke!

I don't think the passive/targeted distinction really mitigates the implausibility of the two roles coexisting. You've still opened the door for two town redirections happening per night. Never seen that done, though I admit I've played comparatively fewer games than most people here.

wylted has spuriously voted me in the last several games I've played with him, and as a rule I don't take it seriously until it becomes serious. He's a mercurial voter in general. In this case he based his vote off of Mikal's announcement that he would vig one of the two of us for the cardinal sin of doubting his claim, which in itself wasn't even a serious FOS.

Also Banana is a From fan! Awesome show. Love Fatima. Not sure what role allows you to leave OP messages or whether that confirms her alignment.

"Cats don't drink cocktails."
"Cats don't shoot lasers from their eyes, either, but here we are, Carl. Mama needs a night off."
R u caught up on the last season?

We canceled DirecTV a few years ago when only season 2 had been released. And I haven't purchased MGM+ so I haven't caught up... :(

I assume you are Fatima from the low likelihood that anyone else here has watched From. Would you mind telling me what your role is called?

Wryly

Did you ask Kohai if the other two roles in the list would always be roles that are in the game as well? Mikal's role being in the list indicates at least some of the other players' roles make it into the "joke."

Can we make a new rule that even if the person who is inactive is replaced, they should be forced to claim. Otherwise that slot just gets a free pass for now reason

Not sure how I feel about it. If they're scum they're definitely coming in with a big advantage, but it also doesn't seem fair to punish the substitute for the inactivity of the original player.

Ill be going to bed soon, hopefully pie and mharman chip in a bit later. Would be good ot hear more from wryly and whiteflame as well if they are able to venture off of my claim for more than 5 minutes.

It's to be expected with the dearth of other data to analyze, I'm afraid. I don't need a role claim from you though. If you're town you're Bulletproof and if you're scum you wouldn't tell me otherwise anyway. A character claim would help me, though.

Regarding the "yes it is lol" in #76, I'd like you to tell me what roles you think completely overlap between Thoth and Mikal. Also I'm not sure what you mean by #88.

His role had a passive redirection passive based on a percentage, I wouldn't exactly call that a redirector.

He was a 90% Nexus. That plus a town Redirector is just pure role redundancy.
I mean I did say that the balance in this game is totally whack, Not sure what kohai was doing with this one.

It's not "there are two roles that almost completely overlap" whack, though. We have a Vig and we have a Nexus with a 10% chance to kill. Never seen an unlimited Vig before (I think), but the two flipped roles are at least discrete. There's a little bit of lethality overlap, but with the Vig at a delayed start and the very slim chance of the Paranoid actually catching scum, I can buy it. A Redirector and a Nexus, though... Basically either you're Bulletproof, you're scum, or I'm appalled.

Alright, I'll clarify and just claim:

I'm Midge Maisel from The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. I'm also a role I've never seen before, the Comedian. The way the role works is that I target someone and receive a "joke," which consists of a list of 3 roles, one of which is their actual role. I targeted Luna last night. The three roles I received were:

Redirector
Delayed (NP2) Vigilante
1X Bulletproof

Considering one of those (the Vigilante) was Mikal's flip, that makes Luna's role a 50-50 between Redirector and BP. I don't like those odds.

What role justification did Kohai give you?

Because Thoth was already a Redirector.
