Everyone read this

Casey was not very active last DP. It makes sense for them to use in on NP1. Also I think this also clears a lot of the folks who were and have been rather inactive.

is this tmi to anyone else?

I don't love the logic because inactivity shouldn't clear anyone. I don't know if I read it as TMI so much as an effort to try to dismiss possible recruits. Especially given that there were only two full claims on the table last DP, it's entirely possible that scum recruited someone who was relatively inactive, I just don't think that someone would be Vader for reasons I've already mentioned.

whiteflame
If REF isn’t on by 2pm, we should just go on and draw straws to full claim, or set a time for everyone else.

If that's how we have to do it, I'm good for 2 PM (CST I assume?)

whiteflame
them using that np1 and not later in the game is telling. They either immediately wanted to use it to gain an experienced player or you but they could cause a lot more chaos if it was later. The only thing that was open dp1 was your claim.

but I do think it’s between you pie or wf. I get stuck on you because I don’t see why else they would sacrifice that np1. Even if they wanted to recruit someone that is experienced. Doing it later in the game just to reset the game makes so much more sense.

I don't get this take. Using a Yakuza as early as possible makes sense because, regardless of when you use it, you throw the game into chaos. It also means you don't have to figure out a fake claim for one member of your scum team.

whiteflame
ref bothers me. I think the entire table is in agreement with pie that we need to mass claim due to the recruit and the resistance is largely pointless at this stage. It’s either because he is softing a power role which is totally obvious to mafia at this point with the refusal to claim or he could be scum and the one who started as scum and is scared to claim in general due to being caught out with his role.

I don't love that he's doing that. I've been townreading him behaviorally, but the amount of time he's burning by not cooperating is making me second guess that, since it's just anti-town at this point and it's clear he does have something worth hiding already.

betting man. I think the recruit was between David, Pie, or Wf

i also think supa is likely town with that role. The role exists prob to make sure all 4 robots, synethics, whatever all claimed and didn’t fake claim. Leads me to think the starting scum was between one of those 4

I agree with what you said earlier about Supa and REF not being a scum team and neither of them likely being a recruit, so I guess by default, the recruit is very likely between the remaining 5 players. I haven't written off Wryly yet, though I don't think she's among the likelier choices in that set being relatively new to the game. That sets it as Mikal, me, Pie, and David as plausible recruits.

if we do this we all need to pick a time. I don’t think drawing or popcorn is useful as if ref is refusing due to being caught out . Being on the backend will only give them an edge.

Still fine with this.

Catching up. The one issue I have with doing the massclaim later in the day is that it's my anniversary, so I can't guarantee what times I'll be available in the evening.

whiteflame
Just catching up. We have a little over 24 hours left. I feel like we have gotten very little accomplished.

thoughts on VTNL as an option?

We thankfully do have some time, but I’d really like to use that time instead of just staying in stasis. Hopefully we can get Rex to commit to the massclaim at a given time today.

As for the VTNL, I think that would be a mistake. We’re at 5-2. VTNL with a successful NK and we’re at 4-2, MYLO. If we mislynch, it goes down to 3-2, LYLO. Unless we’re planning another NL next DP, the NL this DP doesn’t grant us extra time and it just means POE contracts by one less person by DP3. It also means we miss out on any possibly going down to 4-1 if we lynch correctly.

whiteflame
I was the chief science expert but I was also a secret android, in which my goal was to serve the Weyland Corp by ensuring Xenomorph was on board at anyone’s cost. Cuz of this I am the Informant

From what I recall of his character, Ash as the Informant makes sense since I believe he was sending information back to the company. His betrayal of the crew was a pretty big plot point in the first movie. Not too dissimilar from David 8 in that regard.

whiteflame
Agreed. However, I did a full review and I don't think rex and vader are paired, especially if one of them was recruited.

I have a hard time believing that they're a scum team as well.

I think Rex has made some good points about how strange it would be to recruit Vader (given both his common frustrations with being scum and his being a black box going into the NP). If I'm understanding his role correctly, I also think it's unlikely Vader was originally scum. If he is, it wouldn't be a first to have scum with a communicator role, but it doesn't read like a Messenger. I can't read much into his behavior given how few posts he's made.

REF comes off as pretty behaviorally consistent with his previous town play. I believe his character claim is his actual character. There aren't a lot of non-alien, non-human options in the Alien franchise excluding a cat and various AI characters. I figured since mine was David 8, Ash would have to be in here somewhere, and I figured the other two would be MU/TH/UR and Bishop. Doesn't help that I hadn't seen Alien: Earth, though since Luna's watching that and doing so partially prompted this choice of theme, I'm not surprised a major character from that show is in this game. So that just leaves his role and his lack of an action leaves me with nothing to analyze there. At least he wasn't apparently nervous about being Tracked if he did do something.

whiteflame
Rex and Vader are the hold up

Unfortunately, yes. If you two have a time that works for you tomorrow, I will make it work for me. If not, this is going to be a lot messier of a lynch without all our claims.

whiteflame

Let’s make sure it’s early enough that we can discuss the claims and not be forced to rush a lynch. I’m available all morning and early afternoon if needed.

whiteflame
Then there's a possibility that Vader is the other scum and Casey picked whiteflame to convert, then whiteflame concocted this information handoff scheme to throw off suspicion.

It's worth considering all the options and, yeah, that's possible. I don't make a habit of tying myself to my scum partner that closely (e.g. claiming to get information from them that could be invalidated by either of our flips), but in a game with a Yakuza flip, everything should be on the table. I don't expect anyone to townread me for receiving/relaying this information.

whiteflame

Fair enough. The info I got was that 4 of the 9 players in this game do not fall into the "human" camp nor the "alien" camp. I did ask for clarification and yes, Engineers would fall into the alien camp. Given that we have 3 characters that fall into that camp (mine, REF's and Wryly's), I think we can assume the fourth is Vader's.

whiteflame

I can, though I'm unclear if he knows the same information, at least not based on what Luna sent me. I'm good with revealing it regardless since we have most of the claims on the table, though Supa's claim may be relevant.

whiteflame
Yep I’m fine with that. I’m Ellen Ripley.

Not surprised she's in this game. She is named in Casey's flip as well. A couple of other characters appear in my PM.

whiteflame

I see that Mikal wants Wryly's claim, so I'll popcorn to her after this, but since she said she's going to be out of reception for a bit, I'll go ahead and claim my character first:

I'm David 8.

whiteflame

I'm fine with character claiming in the interim since it appears we're holding off on massclaims. If no one has a problem with it, I'll opt to be first and popcorn to someone else.

whiteflame
Issue is that now that person can also be scum with the Yakuza

Yeah, mainly just questioning if scum would choose a complete unknown to convert. His having a town role doesn't mean he's townlocked.

whiteflame

As for massclaiming, looks like everyone is onboard aside from REF (he at least gave a character claim and said he didn't do anything, so that's something to work with) and Vader (who popped in and left, but at least has a partially verified role and night action). I'll be here at the appointed time regardless, but we do need to get everyone's claims if we're doing this.

whiteflame
Looks like you chose WF. Why did you choose WF?

I'd like to learn this as well. I'll say that the information I received is very likely from a role I can't imagine scum having.

whiteflame
First thing is first I need to get Whiteflame here to confirm that he received a message about something

Alright, so that role confirms you in my eyes. I already mentioned that I received info back in post #114, I'm just holding off on providing that info. I think providing it along with the massclaim affords us the best use of that information.

I also hate the speed of the last lynch. I have to reread the DP but I was really eager to jump to Mikal pressure cuz of it but there is some validity to that. I am kind of skeptical of the Vengeful claim as claiming Xenomoprh is pretty bold but I also don’t think the theme is that simple so I think pressing on this could be a bad idea. I think we need to look more towards behavior. I have some thoughts about my reads but have to drive to work now

I have a hard time believing scum would just use the opportunity of my posting the L-1 vote to get a quick lynch since it's so blatant, but I'm still sussing Mikal a bit for it since that may be the point. It's WIFOM, but I can see Mikal trying to spin it as a mistake. As for Kohai's claim, I still think it rings true (I don't think he makes it a heads up between himself and Thoth if he's scum like he did last DP if he was scum), mainly just a question of whether he was converted by Casey's Yakuza. Haven't seen a change in behavior this DP, though.

whiteflame

I'll go through all this in more detail tomorrow, pretty exhausted after getting three vaccinations this weekend, which has had the lovely side effect of making me feel pretty run down all day. If we're getting everyone's claims tomorrow as expected (and I hope Vader's around to do it), that should at least help us locate the other original scum.

whiteflame

Alright, some basic thoughts as I'm reading through the posts so far, particularly the big ticket issues that have come up. I'll post some reads looking at this DP and the previous one tomorrow.

This back-and-forth between Mikal and Pie had me confused for a bit, but if I have it right, Mikal used a role on Pie that Pie would be able to validate if he had an active role. Pie claims to have a passive role, so he can't validate it. That might be more meaningful if not for the Yakuza flip, since Mikal might be softing a town-only role. As for whether Pie would soft a PR to fuck with mafia, yeah, I absolutely believe he would.

And yeah, this is one game where I get the need to full claim. It looks like it's broadly agreed that we are all full claiming tomorrow at noon CST, which is 1 PM EST, so I'll make sure I'm on and ready. I can include the information I was sent during the NP in that post.

As for lynching Kohai, I don't really understand the logic behind lynching him this DP. If he's town and he's mislynched and he shoots another town player, with the NK, we go from 5-2 to 2-2. That's a big risk that remains concerning in later DPs. I think Pie's mainly talking about what would happen if he's scum and he has this role, which his 2-1 LYLO scenario would get around. I don't have good reason to scumread Kohai, though, so it's not really where my thinking is at right now. I'd just rather not risk the game ending NP2.

whiteflame
If it could narrow the POE that would be very helpful

If we could at least get the remaining softclaim from Vader, it might help. It would do more with character claims.

whiteflame

So... wow, lot to unpack. Going to take me a bit to catch up. That Yakuza flip is a big problem.

Before I get down to reading, I received game information from an unknown source during the NP. I can reveal that information at any time, though it might be best reserved for after we get some more character claims.
