But do you get why I felt that I should obstinate about full-claiming? I figured that knowing there was an Apportioner could give scum opportunities to concoct bullshit about what happened last night. I did not have any specific scenarios in mind, but I thought about it and seemed like something I should reveal when it could let town infer something important.

I get it to some degree, but it’s not so valuable of a role that it was worth risking the lynch tbh. I can also see value in claiming it to get out ahead of that concocted BS, though it’s always going to be difficult to know (as long as there’s at least a couple of protective roles) what prevented someone from dying during the night.

whiteflame
It's also not the justification in my role PM, at least not as I understood it as a non-Alien fan.

I’ll be really interested to see it. Maybe it is more along the lines you stated, just don’t know why Luna would write it that way.

whiteflame
Eh if no one's gonna unvote I guess we'll find out after Luna wakes up

Wouldn’t make a difference if we did. He’s been hammered. Can’t take that back.

whiteflame
Your victim is dead basically the minute a Facehugger attaches to you. But you don’t die immediately because the xenomorph grows inside of you. Only after the chest buster comes out that, that you die. That explains the the apportioner

Hey, now that’s a believable justification. I think Thoth is probably telling the truth, but his attempts to keep from providing his claim by hinting at it ended up only being confusing.

whiteflame

Get in my car to go to the gym and shit hits the fan.

So I guess Mikal hammered Thoth? And were you really the Apportioner? Kind of a baffling take that you go against the Xenomorph just because you delay a kill.

whiteflame

Seems like the main tension at this point is between Thoth's and RT's claims.

Starting off, it is odd that there's any justification for Thoth's role that could work as being "against the interests of Xenomorphs." I can't say if that's a misreading of his PM or an attempt to shoehorn in a specific role with Facehuggers (either on his part or Luna's), though I suspect this is some kind of misunderstanding.

I've always associated Xenomorphs with the full-grown form of these aliens, though it is just the species name and the full-grown form is just the "adult." Facehugger is one of the larval stages, it leads into Chestburster, which becomes an adult form. So yes, there is definitely some overlap between Xenomorphs and Facehuggers. That CC does stand out. If Thoth is telling the truth, then (and I think I saw someone mention this earlier) there should be a Chestburster in here as well.

The combination of the odd nature of Thoth's justification (at least how he's framing it) and the partial CC on the table stands as reason enough to get Thoth's full claim. Depending on what that is and how it contrasts with RT's claim, we might revisit his afterward. Until then:

VTL Thoth

Claim, dude.

whiteflame

I guess that last post gives it away, but then so does my incredulity with the discrepancy between these two claims, so I’ll just say I’m not a Xenomorph.

whiteflame
Maybe it wouldn’t be a bad idea for everyone to soft claim Xenomorph or Not Xenomorph

Still runs into the same problem since some characters have Xenomorph in them. Also might be a little over limiting. We already have two Xenomorph claims and I’d be surprised if there are more about (though a Queen would be less surprising).

whiteflame
You'd need to define "human" clearly, as Alien: Earth introduces some things that blur the line. I guess Alien Resurrection did as well, with all that alienspliced Ripley and Ripleyspliced alien.

Yeah… it’s certainly a line to draw given the events of Alien 3 and Resurrection. Might give away some claims depending on what everyone is. Still, I think it’s the only softclaim that might work, albeit with some problems.

We hates Alien Resurrection, we hates it precious. Ripley wasn't even Ripley no more.

Yep, we hates it too, precious. Filthy half-breeds.

whiteflame
it’s literally just an RVS vote

Fair enough.

i really really really hate this post.

Never love this kind of behavior from Mikal, but he literally did it the first game we did on here trying to get a claim out of McDonalds.

I counter claim. My character is Xenomorph. I guess I’m also now to be forced to full claim.

I’m Xenomorph. My role is a vengeful town. If I’m ever lynched I can select someone to die with me.

That’s odd. I guess there could be multiple Xenomorphs in the game, that would be fun considering how many of them are running around in the movies, but the CC is hard to ignore. Can’t imagine Luna giving two different people Xenomorph and distinguishing them as “a” and “the”. They’re a species, not a character. Will need to think on this one.

whiteflame

Not sure why you'd be discussing a system for what you say is basically random voting through a number generator. Maybe that's just having some fun with Mharman's previous efforts to get everyone to select a number. Also, a little weird that you went from discussing softclaims to straight up claiming your character, but I can understand why you did it.

Going off of this your claim, I think softclaiming whether our characters are or are not human seems like the way to do it. Mine is not human.

whiteflame
Okay just letting everyone know that canonically, Ripley and Newt got away and lived happily ever after. I will be acknowledging the alternate timeline of Aliens 3 and 4 for the context of this game, and the context of this game ONLY, but they literally never happened I need everyone to know that. Ripley and Newt got away and they both got therapy and Ripley raised Newt as her daughter. Anyone who says this isn't canon is trying to sabotage my mental health and I will report them for cyberbullying immediately. #RipleyAndNewtLived

I see nothing wrong here.

Mind explaining why you'd pop in and start with a VTL on Vader, who just said that he won't be available until Sunday? What's the point of that?

whiteflame

Catching up this morning. Given that it's Alien, I'm not surprised Xenomorph is in the game, though it's interesting that there apparently are individual characters and whole species included in this game. The Kalkara were in last game, so it's certainly not a first.

whiteflame

Cool, Alien theme won out. I'm mostly pretty well versed in this theme, as I've seen Alien 1-3 (though I'd prefer to forget the third) and Prometheus, really want to get to Alien: Earth. Seems Luna beat me to the punch on the question of whether crossovers like Alien vs. Predator are included, though I don't see Romulus on that list, either. Narrows the available content to draw from slightly.

Anyway, it's been a long day and I'm not staying up much later, just wanted to check in.

whiteflame
Eh. More like pointreduced than pointless. There was still Hider. I asked Pie whether or not Strongman killed a Hider if targeted at them, and he said yes, which surprised me. No matter how strong you are, you can't kill someone who isn't there.

That is surprising, though I wouldn’t have bought that as an explanation for why a Strongman was in this game - literally just to make an already negative utility role worse - especially since that was the only role Magic had. Strongman, like any other scum role, exists to balance something town has as a positive utility role. If there was no protective role in this game, I would have called shenanigans.

whiteflame

Well done to scum.

In retrospect, and I know I discussed this with Pie at some point, the big thing that should have town-locked Wryly was the fact that there was a 1X Strongman at all and no other role aside from Wryly's for that to counter. If Wryly's role wasn't in the game, then the existence of a Strongman at all was pointless.

Aside from that, basically agree with everything Pie said. I think Wryly's logic was really good, just the use of her role could have used some work. REF had some good calls in his last DP as well. I think Luna was on the right track much of the time, but just got very focused on behavioral cues as scum tells that came off as very townie to me. Not going to see things the same way, and I can certainly see where he was coming from.

whiteflame

Well... that's frustrating. That claim that Thoth saw a self-visit from Mharman absolutely should have given him away. There's no world in which that happens or someone fakes him seeing that. Wryly was spot-on with that analysis.

whiteflame

Ah, alright. I'll leave it at that, then. I do think I'd prefer Mikal's lynch since REF's promised to claim, but we're in a tough spot without someone else to come over.

whiteflame
Some more soft claim for tomorrow - I am an exceedingly dangerous species of monster/animal.

I've been trying to research this and I'm unclear if there's even a character that fits this description. Seeing a lot of horses and a couple of dogs. I guess it's possible that you're just a whole species as Wryly interprets it or some more minor character than I'm privy to from my limited search, but considering RT's claim was Tug and not horses, it comes off as an outlier.

whiteflame

Well, we've got a half an hour left and with only Wryly talking about any shift in their vote, this is either all onboard the REF train we're not lynching anyone. So, I'll join the wagon, tag everyone who hasn't voted for him (hope one of you hammers), and hope that we can at least get a lynch this DP.

VTL REF

whiteflame

At this point, I could go either way. If someone else ends up bringing REF to L-1 before the end of the DP (looking at about an hour left), I’ll hammer. I’d prefer a lynch to a NL with 9 players in the game.

whiteflame

I'm not the biggest fan of his pushing off like this (the fact that he's posting at all means he could be doing a lot more and also indicates a PR anyway, so he's likely just making himself a target for an RB or NK if he's town), but if REF is willing to full claim next DP, and I mean early next DP, I'm willing to give him the chance to do so:

Unvote

Absent his lynch, Mikal comes off as the next best option, at least for now. I'm going to think it over before I vote him, but tentatively, that's where my vote is.
