just an FYI on this for further thought, but post 76 includes a vote count on Mikal "1/6"... do "popular" vote counts typically increase the number in the tabulation? "1/7" for example, I think I may have seen that before but I might be mistaken... We may already know the answer to this test

This is how the mechanic was described in the endgame:

Anticlaim - Once per night, you may name any player and a role. If the named player has the named role, they will be unable to be protected from the NK by any protective roles. This may NOT be used on a player on whom you have successfully used Role Cop, unless that player has publicly claimed their role. If using Anticlaim on a player you have Role Copped, you must cite the post where they claimed their role. You will be told if your Anticlaim attempt was successful or not. Once you have used Anticlaim on a player successfully, you may not use it on that player again.

I didn't realize there was an actual concept like this, I figured it was a bit more vague, but nice to know this exists - even if its not exactly what is referred to in the OP. Anyways, that's helpful, pretty sure I wont have to worry about a use of this since I neither need to be protected nor NKd (at this point at least), be a waste of any such a scum mechanic.

Me and thoth had some light trolling in ROT-13 which is easily decryptable for proof. We didn't actually do anything that would effect the game. I made a joke about you being scum and he said "acknowledged" and that was the extent of it lol

Anyways, my lack of a firm grasp of the potential mechanics of pros/cons/dangers of claiming and the potential risks thereof beyond the scope of providing scum with too much information notwithstanding.... I have minimal confident reads. Anything I have on Mikal, Luna and Thoth are going to mostly be related to mod psych stuff that I hate to cite.

Beyond that, I have minimal read on Awesome and Unsaid given no history with them.

I am null atm on Pie and WF, though I am going to go back and specifically focus more on their posts in a bit.

I said claim your role and not your character. If there is anti claim shit. It would only make sense from a character perspective unless mafia have roles that actively counter ours. Been saying this

I should have finished reading the DP before I said anything. I was struck by the idea that you had been dismissive of the anti claim issue but then said you wouldn't claim while asking me to, but then you actually claimed anyway. So ignore all of that.

Also, the same issue applies that I don't understand this mechanic. I haven't encountered it ever. What type of mechanic could exist that makes it problematic for me to claim? Even more so, what could the possible issue be with character claiming?

I can't analyze the cost-benefit of this mechanic without knowing an example of it, especially an example that somehow makes a character claim more risky than a role claim - a reality I've certainly never encountered before since, at least from my cave man lawyer perspective, characters are far less valuable. I'm not doubting the validity of this, I'm just not familiar with it, and would love an example of how this would function - if not a likely example of how it would work in this game - then at least some far flung example of some mechanic that makes character claiming a problem.

To be clear, I understand some counter claim mechanics could exist, but it's this issue with anti character claiming issue that has me thrown a bit. I guess I'm just not sure what that would like like in practice.

Minimal in-depth analysis so far, but that's to be expected from a DP1. I like what I'm seeing from our new players. I don't have a read on either Unsaid or Awesome (though it leads slight town if I'm forced to state a lean), but I have my concerns about both since both seem like competent, quality players. I do hope both are town, and will be keeping my eye on them.

I am - PM was written as "you" for anyone that wants to over-analyze the style in which I am paraphrasing this - Mr. Rogers, from Mr. Roger’s Neighborhood. I'm known being a gentle soul etc etc and my song “Won’t you be my neighbor” makes me the Neighborizer. Every night I can add someone to the neighborhood.

The next questions that should necessarily be asked are: Can I recruit mafia, will I know affiliation etc?

The PM points out that I will NOT know their affiliation, so I can assume that I can recruit mafia, and that I will not know about it. The discord "neighborhood PM" was created right away and exists currently.

I've never heard of this role before... I assume it's just a Mason recruiter... Though is the distinction that a Mason can't recruit mafia?

So ultimately my role confirms nothing, and aside from the utility I may provide in using it strategically, it provides nothing of affiliation confirmation value. Therefore I am essentially useless and just a vanilla with a meaningless recruiting ability - So keep that in mind Mafia and don't waste your NK on me, thanks :)

So I'm not a fan of this mod psych stuff I'm reading (Just cuz I prefer behavior and results analysis and hate to analyze potential errors), but it's hard for me to just ignore it and not to town read Luna, and also Mikal I guess to a lesser extent as a result of it so far - but I'll touch on that more later.

I also would like to character and role claim because I can argue some utility in doing so (clarity of potential mechanics, setup, lessen my own neg activity liability on town etc) however I am not familiar with this anti-claim mechanic referenced. I don't think I've even experienced such a thing beyond simply giving Mafia too much info.

Could someone describe what such a mechanic looks like in practice? Like if I claim am I gona get day vigged then janitored? or something of equivalent dramatics etc? I'd like an idea of the risk me me claiming - especially since I do have 3 votes on me right now.

Hey hey Mafia people. It's good to be back playing some forum mafia after having been away for awhile. I'm gona do my best, and surely caveman lawyer the hell out of this, since I don't know what the new metas and various shenanigans being employed these days are. But nonetheless, I hope I can contribute positively to my side, which happens to be town btw, and it's very important to me that town wins cuz I wana climb that mafia leaderboard and start 1-0.

I win with the town, and I'll probably claim soon since I don't want my level of activity to be a hindrance. Just want to point out that I'll be active the rest of this evening, and then tomorrow night after 6pm central (unless something comes up preventing that), but given that the DP ends at 5pm on Tuesday its unlikely I'll contribute anything on that day. So, I'll be an open book and scum hunt in the meantime.

Now I'm gona read the DP, and contribute what I can.
