I agree with your point. It makes sense to target Shining with a Janitor. However, it also makes sense to target Ultra as well who had posted nothing.

If the goal was to get a role where town can’t determine what it was, why not target Ultra instead. Earth was on people’s scum radars in DP1. Honestly, I think this implicates Ultra/WF

You are right that it makes sense for an inactive to be janitored. Makes wylteds post about "people who are dumb enough to kill shining" seem a little sketchy to me because it was actually kind of smart ngl. Also there was probably a small chance of them getting protected either.

I am pointing out that they rarely do. But they are far more likely to if we start auto lynching third parties, and then it will lead to the same complaint people had on DDO "This is bullsh1t I don't wanna play third party because they just get auto lynched" and that was why we rarely see them anymore because people just hate playing a role that gets auto lynched, even if they can joint win and are willing to actively help town.

Can you find a recent game where this has happened? Because I can point to multiple on DART where the opposite has happened, and they actively town side. As someone who has literally been apart of just about every mafia game on DART minus maybe a total of 5, I can guarantee you the numbers support third party siding with town.

I mean I substantiated it, so I am not sure why. I think auto lynching third parties sets a standard for third parties to not want to work with town in the future. Also we have had plenty of games where we have treated joint winning TP's as town and they have won along side town, so treating them hostilely wastes a mis lynch and is just unnecessary. I don't know how Ref does it, but for numbers purposes I usually include a third party in town numbers for balance purposes. If you operate under the assumption whiteflame was just scum and lying, I get lynching him, but is was pretty obvious he was TP based on how quick he caved and admitted it, and divulged his fake claim rather than sticking to his guns. And he complied with you almost immediately. Scum had no incentive to do that.

If this is the case it's probably better to do a mass, otherwise you are targetting claims from potential townies whilst mafia skate by. A mass at least holds everyone accountable. However if we are assuming 1. There is a recruiter, and 2. That there is a janitor, then mafia probably already have fake claims ready.

I just had a thought that I want to share while I'm on, since I might not be active again until evening. I have a guess at what (one of?) the anti-claim mechanic(s) is, and call it tinfoil modpsyche if you want. It's nearly confirmed, maybe hard-confirmed if I forgot something, that scum have can recruit, details of recruitment ability unknown. Mikal said he could determine which characters can or cannot be recruited and that the split would be hard to find even with Googling unless you had played the game, claims of which I was suspicious of yesterday but trust now that I townlock Mikal. If I were scum, my top concern would be hunting a recruit target, and I think you would all agree with this. Rex knew that whoever rolled scum would likely not be a lore-lord and would have no way of knowing whether or not a character can be recruited. My guess is that the anti-claim mechanic lets scum check your recruitability if they know certain information about your character, possibly with a full Rolecop, possibly yes/no, possibly not quite either of those two. It seems hard enough anti-claim to, "allow scum to use their roles to much greater effect", but soft enough that Rex might use it despite his rumored distaste for anti-claim.

This is a lot of wild assumptions. What leads you to some of these theories? I can see why Kohai would see this as TMI, these are either hair brained at best, or demonstrate you have a lot of knowledge you shouldn't.

Luna - I feel like Luna has been back benching a little, basicallly letting Mikal run the show. As scum, he tends to back bench, and I don’t see a genuine contribution besides the one reads post. I also don’t like that he wanted to keep an outted TP alive.

I won't disagree that I haven't been as aggressive as normal, partly due to having most of my posts been on mobile since the game started, today is the first day I can sit down at a computer and play (ive been falling asleep at work lately). That said I would dis-agree that I take a back bench as scum. As scum I would be researching the fvck out of this theme even though it's not up my alley. Look at any town game of mine where I don't know the theme and you will see I never do research and only focus behavior, just like Terraria. I have had a solid town read on mikal from early on and since he does know the theme and has already caught a scum slip with it, I am trusting his judgement on theme decisions, though I think he needs to be a bit more careful how he publicly asks for information. If we have a smart or non lazy scum team they could piece together stuff he doesn't think they will.

I can but I’d rather soft claim. I am a general. If you need more I can but I don’t know how obvious it makes my role if I do.

I see a few comments that I’ve been “back benching”. I’m a little out of my depth with the theme here and I feel like so much of the discussion has been on theme this game, so I don’t really have comments on that stuff. I don’t usually do a ton of research on themes when I’m town, I just refer to my PM and that’s it. That said I did want to focus on inactives this day phase because they were skating by last day phase. My scum reads on Thoth and pie remain the same, I feel like they were trying to deter a town block and Thoth just has felt wierd in general to me, but I might be hyper paranoid of him after his scum play in pies game.

I havent played with him before but he was saying obvious stuff and it felt like fluff. Like his comments about white flame felt contrived. I guess it's too late now but he had so few posts maybe he was hinting at a role and the scum team want to use the role he was hinting at as a fake claim or something

Now that I think about it he was pretty quick to throw whiteflame overboard based on him being TP alone, but then again so was everyone so it didn't stand out much to me.
