If you cant include Gods, then yes, you can do other rituals. I didnt say Gods were the only way. I just personally really prefer to have them included, as they are most powerful. Tho I am guessing even without Gods, you can still use herbs, symbols, magic squares (these exist in math too), sator square, writings, invocations, magic circles, protective amulets, making altars, drawings, numbers, sounds, crystals...ect. So yes, there is plenty to work with.

I draw my methods from the religion of the Sun. Sun starts from center and extends in all directions. Likewise, when it comes to spells, I like to extend in all directions and include everything decent which can be included in the work with spells. Just like in chess, there is a limited nuumber of combinations and trying all combinations usually leads to best ones, same principle applies to everything, even spells. Just as you need to see every direction to compare and learn the best direction among them, extending in all directions is logically necessary. So to be like the Sun which extends everywhere.

Now, what action is, is up for interpretation. I think it is true that herbs have energy, and collecting them and using them is action which achieves some effect. Drawing symbols, especially symmetrical symbols, is likewise action which achieves effect. Science says effect is psychological, I of course disagree because in the world of complete interconnection, smallest change can cause butterfly effect to a whole world.

True, you can, but if you rely not on spirits or Gods, then it becomes a bit confusing as to what makes spells work. The other explanations could be that focusing intention can affect external world and yourself. However, if you dont believe in Gods or spirits, then plenty of spells suddenly make no sense. It basically only reduces number of spells you can use. Sure, you can be atheist and still do spells, but a great number of spells I run into require belief in spirit or God. For example, you cant reasonably give offerings to Venus if you dont believe in her. Same for Satan, for demons, for spirits, for ancestor worship...ect. You also cant summon spirit guardians if you dont believe in those. So atheist magic, while possible, is terribly limited and you will have to skip a lot of spells as atheist.

The power comes from offering which is given to or used to attract Gods or spirits. For example, burning food in a fire, or placing plants on altar, or just from effort being made to pray a lot. Offering must be made, of course. You are truly trading with Gods, and while I think prayer is good, prayer alone is not enough, because prayer is just communication with Gods. If you dont offer anything to Gods, dont expect much from Gods. Gods appreciate things which are of value. Chocolate is expensive, and burning chocolate in a fire may seem too much, but I think it is one of best ways to honor the Gods. It is a trade in a way that you offer first, something like "I give you this, so please give me that". Herbs work in similar way as offering, and also to attract spirits and Gods. Plus, some plants make such a nice view in the house. I think a bowl of green hazelnuts looks wonderful.

As for herbs, when it comes to protection, stinging nettle, dandelion leaves and roots, and hazel tree are considered good, and these are almost everywhere on Earth. When it comes to love, rose is a common plant for that which I assume can be found in most of the world. As for wealth, cinnamon and clover are common. I dont know where clover doesnt grow.
Also, you can make your own spells. You dont have to rely on some specific book, and I dont think there even is a universal book in witchcraft. There are many books, with many different spells. There are also apps for phone which contain simple spells which I think are just as good.
Also, herbs are probably most difficult spells for beginners, but they are not too difficult. It doesnt take huge knowledge to figure it out, unless person only chooses most difficult spells with herbs which take a lot of time to find. Well, you can order herbs online, but I am not sure how good is that.

Thank you for that. Hazelnuts are said to bring good luck too, tho I am not sure if it works if they are bought from store. Every plant I use for effect comes from my own land, because I dont trust stores that much when it comes to this. I even avoid using salt often in my rituals. I dont make salt circles, other than as completely separate ritual of its own, so it doesnt mix with my other rituals.
I dont exactly remember, didnt care much about civil war in Skyrim. The only thing I ever did in Skyrim was finish main plot and join mage's guild and finish their plot. Also, I did join that warrior's guild as well, which turns out is werewolf guild... I dont think it matters much which side you pick. Its been a long time since I played Skyrim.
