Airmax can be looked at tomorrow if needed, but, if a townlock is neighborized and tells us so, that pretty well confirms Airmax as town since a scum neighborizer is almost as unlikely as Mr Rogers being scum, NAI-flavor notwithstanding.

He probably knows the role as a Mason Recruiter. MU uses a lot of the same roles we've used for decades but with different titles. Even my role has a different name than what I commonly understand it to be.

Since Masons are town by definition, I can see the wisdom of not calling it a Mason Recruiter. I almost wrote, "unless the person you target is only added to the chat if they are town", and then saw the problem there.

I'm noticing no one's given you a straight answer to these questions. The answer is, it depends on the nature of the anti-claim mechanic. The most recent example (and I think the one most of us are considering when it comes to this game) came from the Deltarune game run by Casey.

That anti-claim mechanic is not what I would think of as extremely nasty. I'm thinking more like having your ability permanently removed or your results being tampered with without informing you. Worst-case scenario would be death, but I very much doubt Kohai would go that far.

If your character is obscure enough that you think that my inferences last post were wrong, by all means, say so. No anti-claim mechanic in the world is going to test obscure vs famous character. Like, if you think this is a trick to get you to activate an anti-claim mechanic where I do something mean to you if you claim that your character is not famous, you should seriously be asking yourself why Kohai would put that in the game.

Kohai said flavor is NAI, which makes me think that, even if we knew one scum character, we would not be able to guess the other, but I could be wrong.

At the risk of providing fodder one of those nasty anti-claim mechanics, I'm going to say that my character is one of the more well-known ones from the 90s/early 00s. I'm willing to infer that most or all characters in here are also well-known, which makes the pool of likely inclusions shallow enough that fake-claiming characters could be risky, especially since Kohai said nothing about mod-provided fake-claims. Town might also have an investigative role that can check characters. This means that scum are likely to straight-claim their characters. Therefore, town could plausibly have anti-claim mechanics.

Potentially plenty, if scum straight-claim their characters. The chance of scum straight-claiming their roles is inherently close to zero, but Kohai said in the OP that flavor is Not Affiliation Indicative.

Post 97 from Thoth bothers me a lot. First he proposes the whole “Commit” thing for pressure, then he just goes and adds his vote onto Max anyways and says he’s not responsible if things go sideways.

This is coming off of last game where we had a quickhammer and he explicitly said: “Do not put your finger on the trigger until you are ready to fire,” later on after being hammered and in my PSA thread.

You know what else does not add up? Three votes to a majority. The only way that could have turned into an accidental firing squad is if three people voted within a window narrow enough that they either did not see each other's vote or could plausibly claimed not to have seen them, and people would probably treat those triplets as having one or two confirmed scum.

Shouldn't it be 5 votes for majority? You would never vote for yourself short of being a tanner (role that wins by being voted out), so 5/9 is effectively a majority.

Funny you say that. In the ten or so games I've played online, two here and the rest with a group on Discord, I have found that I am consistently townread when I am scum and scumread when I am town. I guess my approach to playing town should be pretend that I am scum pretending to be town.

Not necessarily. I’ve seen plenty of people kick the tires as it were by finding minor reasons to sus various players and seeing how they respond. It doesn’t mean I’m scumreading you in return for seeing some annoyance in a post where I didn’t convey it.

Activity has to come from somewhere. If there is no activity, we sit around doing nothing while scum kill us.

"All threats to town" almost confirms to me that there is a third-party, since otherwise it could just say scum.

I won’t perpetuate the narrative that I am town confirmed because it puts a target on my head, but otherwise you’d have to believe he didn’t send the mafia on until 15 minutes prior to the day phase starting where the whole point was to have every player confirm their role before the game starts. In general you would assume mafia would have been among the first to receive their role PMs so they can begin discussion and strategizing for fake claims. That said, I am not town confirmed for this.

(Post #69; nice) That, and in Ranger's Apprentice, Magic and I were in a scum-chat server where Pie posted both of our PMs. If Kohai also uses a server as scum-chat, I'm thinking that it is heuristic evidence, although far from proof, that nobody else complained about their missing role PM.
