are you willing to full claim if we need it. It's mylo

I would really rather not. I think I've come up with a way to semi-claim without actually claiming. Waiting for a response from David. I think more claims at this point is a huge mistake. That's not a hard no but suffice to say I think, based on the info I have, that I can determine at least one scum with great accuracy, and am less sure of their partner.

RexFavilla

The correct answer for why you wouldn't use it on Pie was that he had claimed a role that would guarantee his affiliation next DP. If you were a town cop who actually considered your target from a town perspective, that should have been an easy way to explain not targeting him. But if you were scum fake-claiming cop it might not occur to you.

RexFavilla

Like protecting either one gave you a 50% chance of stopping a NK. How is that better than copping someone who imo does not seem particularly scummy? Why not cop Pie? He's one of the most polarizing players and a far more difficult to read one.

RexFavilla
Might as well.

I’m Dexter’s Laboratory. Justification says there’s almost nothing I can’t create or solve.

I’m the Doc/Cop. I copped Awesome innocent.
To clarify on the obvious “why Awesome” question, I chose him because I remained unsure of his affiliation despite that claim. That is almost certainly his role, meaning he’s not the GF even if he’s scum. So unless he got Lawyered or I got manipulated some other way, I think it’s accurate.

My question isn't 'why awesome' it's 'why cop?' We had two town-confirmed players. Why on earth didn't you protect either of them? The nightkill targets were incredibly obvious.

Also, why the fearless claim? We just had three deaths in one night after being warned about a strong anticlaim mechanic, with much of town claiming DP1 regardless of that. Personally, I'm incredibly leery about further claims. I have no role which could account for the extra deaths. That's the first question that should have been asked. I've tagged Pie as well to ask him that question. If he also answers no, the only explanation for those extra deaths is anticlaim. In that case full claiming this DP could lose us the game.

I think it's possible to solve this game without more full claims on the table. Given the circumstances, I think that full claiming may lose us the game even if we hit scum this DP by doing so if the mechanic is so strong that it can create extra deaths in the NP.

RexFavilla

Hmm this makes me townread Whiteflame a bit more than I was. I'll have to go back to the drawing board a bit next DP. I figured scum WF would not be on a team with Supa due to their past interactions and would jump at the chance to lynch him. Now I'm less sure about either's affiliation.

RexFavilla

VTL Vader

Tbh I'm torn too. This brings it to a tie. Unless WF or Luna want to break it one way or the other it will resolve by coinflip. As I stated earlier, I can see the argument for either one. Just as with Max, the sudden claim from Supa makes me suspicious because only scum would not fear anticlaim, so claiming suddenly DP1 (especially after protesting it) is just overall sus to me. It's like he calculated that he could get more town cred for claiming, it doesn't feel genuine. I also feel like if you're going to throw a fit to stave off the night kill as town why not do it without claiming? I'm leaning more towards a desperate reaction like in that one game you linked. I don't know whether it's an act or not. My gut says not but that example you gave has been undermining that.

Still think WF is scummy but the last thing we need is another fucking claim, and God knows he'll do it if he gets enough votes.

RexFavilla

This is my quick Vote Count:

Awesome 3 - Unsaid, Vader, Airmax

Whiteflame 1 - Thoth

Supa 1 - Mikal

Vader 1 - Pie

Thoth 1 - Awesome

Not Voting 3 - Whiteflame, RexFavilla, Lunatic

RexFavilla

I know my position of lynching people without them claiming is seen as insane but this is why I do it. How many people have claimed DP1 now? It may make sense on an individual level but the compound effects are anti-town.

RexFavilla

Has Supa ever raged out before being lynched like that as scum? The two games I can recall him being scum in he just kind of sadly withered away and died once he thought it was hopeless.

Awesome, if he can't turn off chats at will and needs to die to do it, at least has positive utility even if he ends up being town so he's the safer option mechanically. And his flip reveals info on Airmax either way. However, I do find Whiteflame to be scummier. He kind of artfully redirected a pretty strong lynch consensus on him and Awesome to Supa and Awesome. I feel like he just picked the next most scummiest player and pushed hard for it to remove himself from consideration. If WF is scum I'm fairly certain both are town.

RexFavilla
I can enable or disable day chats. If I die, all day chats are disabled

If mafia chat was the only day chat, my role would be strictly -EV, which is why I talked about masons and neighbors

I take this to mean that he can switch them on or off but if he dies they are permanently off.

Clarification, Awesome?

RexFavilla

Yeah I'm coming around on this. My issue is why, as town, would you not disable PM communications? He should do that ASAP if its within his power. Max can confirm that it works. That way, unless they are both scum and lying (brazen gambit), we can basically confirm them while depriving scum of PMs.

RexFavilla

I dunno if we're down to these two the anticlaim makes me worry. Do we really want more claims out there? Are we going to out another claim each DP? That seems like a bad trajectory with that stern a warning. Maybe we could even out the vote and make it a coin flip lol.

RexFavilla

On the one hand I don't think Awesome is scum due to his soft about the mason/hood very early on and then Airmax's full claim. One the other hand this means that his flips will hold a huge amount of info when it comes to Max's affiliation. The only way I see him being scum is if Max is also scum. I'd like the people voting him while townreading Max to explain something:

  1. Awesome softs that there is likely a mason/hood in the game very early on. This implies that it is mentioned in the PM
  2. If he is scum he is either scum alongside said recruiting role or he has a role that fucks with a town mason/hood
  3. If the former is true, he is in a scum team with Max
  4. If the latter is true, then why give away that you have such a role to town for no reason?

I just don't think the idea that Scum Awesome/Town Max makes sense and I'd really like people to explain to me how it does. Here's the post in question, #26:

i get the impression there's probably a mason or a hood

RexFavilla

My reads really haven't budged much. Whiteflame would probably be top choice, then max. Maybe Pie or Vader, but I'd prefer to wait and see with them. I will check in before the DP ends at some point to cast my vote.

RexFavilla
lol wtf i never saw any direct questions from you and im also not complaining about anything.

You were complaining about people spending all their energy on angleshooting instead of playing the game (#363)

This is the direct question:

1. iLikePie town
2. Thoth town
Can you explain these two reads for me? Most people were scumreading Thoth pre-mod confirm. Why did you townread him? Same for your Pie read. Why did you think he is town?

As far as fluff posting come try and kill me if you are that bothered

Not bothered by anything. Just trying to get a grip on a slippery character.

Awesome not even noticing me is funny af too

Also, this gives me an idea. I'd like both of you to summarize what the other's posting style, strengths, and weaknesses are as far as mafia is concerned. For you to give an opinion on Awesome and for Awesome to give an opinion on you.

RexFavilla

Unvote

So after gauging some responses here are my reads:

Town:

Mikal

Luna

Thoth

I don't typically do hard town reads DP1 but Mikal broke the game and town confirmed the other two players through mechanical glitches.

Lean Town:

Awesome

His initial post about there being a mason/hood just doesn't seem scum to me unless he is scum partners with Airmax. He must have some sort of role which interacts with Airmax's in some way. If he were scum and Airmax were town I don't think he'd reveal that information right off the bat, it'd be giving up a strategically important bit of info for no reason.

Null:

unsaid

I'm really torn. I like some of his earlier posts which felt genuine, but his recent schtick of complaining about the game not moving forward while posting fluff and not even trying to answer the two direct questions I asked him have me second-guessing my initial light town read of him.

Supa/Vader

He's just kinda here, being Supa. I usually can't get a grip on him day one, it's usually something later in the games that make me snap one way or the other with him.

Pie

I'm just not buying Pie at the moment. Some of his reads feel a little contrived and I know that he's a good enough player to fake what he's put out so far.

Lean scum:

Airmax

I don't get the hard town reads on Airmax. The fact that he came right out there and full claimed despite the warnings makes me leery. With the strong anti-claim mechanics that the OP warned about, one of the assumptions I went into this game with is that scum might claim earlier than other people to both normalize it (they won't suffer any consequences for doing so) and coax more town into claiming while also gaining cred for doing so. Who knows what the mechanic is? Maybe it's something they can withhold and drop all at once at the endgame.

Whiteflame:

I just did an iso on him to see if it wasn't just me being paranoid after last game, but yeah I feel like something is off. More of a vibe thing, but he's another player that's hard to read. I feel like if he's kind of my least-null null read. One particular thing that set me a but on edge was pressuring me for activity after I said I wouldn't be able to get on until Monday both on the discord and in this threat. I figured people were combing the Discord yesterday to check the mod confirmations so WF should have seen my recent post. And to chide someone for doing it to Airmax beforehand it feels a little like forced activity, ya know? Like after commenting on mechanical stuff he was grasping for something to post. He's also made it known that he's conscious of the majority lynch policy - starting wagons on inactive players is a great way to burn daylight and then easily engineer a mislynch with the swing of a few votes. You don't have to get six people together, just convince a handful to switch if there are still residual votes from the pressure wagon. I wouldn't be surprised if scum were trying to start such wagons this DP on mislynch targets.

Also, in that vein, all town players should be UNVOTING regularly to avoid that happening if you get caught up in real life and can't come back to the game.

RexFavilla
I still believe that one of the new people are scum. It makes sense from a mod psyche POV. With the current running town block, there’s a 50/50 shot we get one between Awesome and Unsaid.

You're the second person to mention this. Does Kohai have a reputation for doing this? Anything other than random role assignment was unthinkable back when I played. It seems like a bizarre thing to speculate about otherwise.

RexFavilla

Awesome:

i get the impression there's probably a mason or a hood

Does your PM imply negative consequences for such a recruiting role targeting you? If that's the case it makes Max look a bit scummy for coming out of the gate with the full claim. Scum would have no fear of anti-claim, and why would town have a role that fucks with a neighborizer?

i just realized

there's no ISO button on this site is there

Profile, Mafia, Comments

I liked awesome's posts on page 6

Pie:

There's a mandatory lynch on the table. I haven't asked, but I'm pretty sure that means we can't abstain from a lynch even if we VTNL. We will eliminate someone every DP, regardless of ties or lack of majority votes.
Okay, adding WF to the townblock for this comment
Townblock: Pie, Mikal, Luna, WF

Why? I think whiteflame is more than capable of restating the OP as scum, it seems pretty low-effort to me. Why townread him over that?

Post 170 from Unsaid feels off

Why? That post struck me as very natural and towny.

Unsaid:

Ilikepie and lunatic probably wouldnt both try the shock and awe “imma say bad words to look towny” routines in sync.

That's just how they post normally lol.

Am I a threat to your town?

Yes, your inscrutable reasons for capitalizing or not capitalizing 'I' are distracting me

1. iLikePie town
2. Thoth town

Can you explain these two reads for me? Most people were scumreading Thoth pre-mod confirm. Why did you townread him? Same for your Pie read. Why did you think he is town?

Mikal:

Why would you scum read Thoth for pressuring a non active then pressure a non active

This is actually a really good point, especially since I said I would be inactive till today in this game and in the Discord and Max didn't as far as I can recall.
