I just feel town is at a disadvantage because everyone is confused or unsure at what to do with all these new and odd mechanics.

To inject some behavioral analysis into our flavor analysis, I'm curious about wylted's history of fake-claiming. Does he tend to concoct weird claims, or would he probably just say I'm a Miller?

I'm not saying that I don't want to know what the numbers are. I'm just saying that I think people bring up questions like that because, in most games, there's almost nothing to do on day 1 other than Random Vote Start and unverifiable speculation about the setup.

Speaking of soft-claims needing to have a point to them, I'm not sure that knowing whether it's (8+1)v3 or (8+1)v2v1 or even (9+1)v2 is actionable information yet.

I do wish that more game hosts would add elements that spark discussion on day 1 other than soft-claims and other kinds of flavor analysis.

I don’t really want to soft-claim flavour just because it would feel like shit if I was Scum and got caught due to flavour. So I’d appreciate flavour not being a part of the discussion.

There really is none. Sorry if it was unclear, but I was implicitly responding to Wryly's question on page 1 about how we should soft. You are probably right that the answer is, "not at all".

Yeah, but if we know the theme split is complex, it's plausible that scum could straight-claim a pair with a noticeable split and say, "I can find relationships between these two other characters too, so that's no reason to sus us."

Like, take two eight-year-old "scholastic" chess players, give one of them an extra knight, and have them play a bunch of games against each other. Between two grandmasters, the player with the extra knight would win every time. Unless one of the kids is a child prodigy, they will both be blundering so hard that it will still be about an even match.

Main concern in games like this is balance, but that's an issue that comes up with some regularity.

The flipside of experimental setups being unbalanced is that, when nobody has experience playing a similar setup, it's much more likely for them to screw up wildly, so the odds gravitate back to 50:50.

I doubt Rex would force scum to “work their charms” on Vader so that he grants them night abilities. It’s likely that whatever night actions Vader can grant, scum have the ability to counter them (somehow).

I'm scumreading this. It seems to me like that the central element of a harem-themed game should be sweet-talking the Emperor. Scum probably do have at least some counters to town's abilities, but not incentivizing scum to charm Vader would be flavorless.

Ymmv I guess. I was kinda psyched for this when he explained it to me, sounds fun.

Given that Rex said the theme split is not simple, I'm curious why scum got two full-fake claims. That makes me think there's a reason why they would be reluctant to claim their characters.

Do any of you know this show well enough to catch even an obviously theme-splittable pair?

Getting two full fake-claims instead of three is heuristic evidence for two scum, in which case there's presumably at least one TP, but it doesn't rule out (8+1)v3.

I do want a character and justification claim from Wylted because I can imagine this is something like, "the court gets more dangerous for you the more attention you attract".

We're talking about it because the idea of the theme is that as you advance in favor, you gain advantages (as it is in any court). The idea that you advance in favor but gain a disadvantage is odd.

I agree, but this whole game is odd. I can see Rex putting in negative utility that gets negativer with favor.

Based on my role PM and the clips I've seen of this harem drama, it seems to me like these girls do not give the feel-good vibes I look for when fantasizing about being the protagonist of a harem anime.

Because the theme split is pretty goddamn obvious to anyone who has played the LOZ it is obvious that flavor is AI. In order to prevent the game from being solved based on flavor claims I am instituting a rule that there is to be no flavor claiming. Do not hint to or claim your flavor or any justification for your roles. This is an immediate modkill. This is to protect the integrity of the game.

It ain't my game, but I don't see the validity of the chain of reasoning from "flavor is affiliation-indicative" to "no flavor claiming". Can't you give scum fake-claims?
